CARTOBLIS Blister Packing Machine

7.1 The package

The package containing CARTOBLIS Blister Packing Machine
consists of a reinforced wooden case with removable top and
sides and a base platform capable of supporting the Machine
and allowing it to be transported. The Machine is covered all
around with polythene sheets.The case also contains sachets of
hygroscopic salts to absorb any moisture during

transportation and storage.

On one side of the case there is aluminum pocket stapled on
the plank. This contains a Packing Slip showing all items that
are packed in the case.
7.2 Symbols and Inscriptions on the case

The following symbols that convey important messages are
inscribed on the Case.
7.2.1 Fragile handle with care
Indicates that the contents are fragile and that The case
must be handled with care.
7.2.2 Keep dry
Indicates that the case should be protected from water,
rain and snow and that it should be kept in a dry place.
7.2.3 This side up
Indicates that the correct vertical position of the case.
7.2.4 Lift here
Indicates that location for positioning of slings while
lifting the case with a hoist or a crane.
7.2.5 Inverted Triangles
Indicates the points where the forks of a forklift truck
should be inserted.
Besides these symbols, the following information is
also inscribed on the sides of the case.
7.2.6 Gross weight
Indicates total weight of the case including its contents
measured in Kilograms (Kgs).
7.2.7 Net weight
Indicates weight of only the contents of the case
measured in Kilograms (Kgs.)

7.2.8 Case dimension. Indicates outer dimensions of the


case measured in millimeters (mm)
7.2.9 Four sides of the case marked
FRONT : Side facing the front side of the Machine
where the hand wheel is located.
BACK : Side on the opposite side of front side
LEFT : Side on the left side while facing the front
side.
RIGHT : Side on the opposite side of the left
side.
7.2.10 Case number marked in numerals
This indicates the serial number of the case with the
total number of cases in the consignment.
For example, in a consignment of four cases,
First case will be marked as case 1 of 4
Second case will be marked case 2 of 4
Third case will be marked as case 3 of 4
Fourth case will be marked as case 4 of 4
7.2.11 Packing slip
The words 'Packing Slip' are inscribed below the
Aluminium pocket stapled on one of the sides of the
case. The pocket contains the 'Packing Slip' which
indicates all the items packed in the case.

7.3 Packing of the Machine

The Machine is packed in a sturdy sea worthy or air worthy wooden
case as per the requirement. All the four sides as well as the top and
base planks are lined with oil paper and polythene sheets. The Photo No. 7/2

machine is bolted on a thick wooden base and is securely fixed on the


base with four foundation bolts. Steel plates are inserted in between
the base plank and the Machine to reinforce the foundation. The
Machine is thoroughly cleaned. It is then draped in a thick polythene
cover from top to bottom and again thoroughly wrapped all around
with shrink-wrap polythene. Other accessories, components and
special tools are similarly shrink-wrapped with polythene.
The front and back sides are now bolted on the base plank and are Photo No. 7/3
securely fixed with the help of bolts inserted from the bottom on each
side of the case, positioned in such a way as to hold the machine in
position and ensure that the Machine is thoroughly secured
preventing its movement with the packing case.
The right hand side of the case is now fixed on the base plank with
bolts. Other accessories and components which are to be packed in
the same case along with the Machine are now placed inside on the
left side of the case and are thoroughly secured so as to prevent their Photo No. 7/4
movement inside the case. The left side plank is now bolted on the
base plank. Finally the top cover of the case is bolted completing the
packing procedure.
7.4 Transporting the Packed Machine

The equipment used for lifting and transporting the Machine should
have a lifting capacity of atleast 3000kgs. The case can either be
moved by forklift or a crane.

For moving by a forklift, the forks must be placed properly at the
points indicated by symbols at the bottom of the case.
If case is moved by a crane, the slings should be placed Properly at the
points indicated by symbols at the bottom of the case.
If the dimensions of the case are such that, it obstructs the view of the
forklift operator, he must be guided by another person walking
alongside the forklift.

Immediately on delivery of the consignment by the courier It Photo No. 7/5

should be checked that the case containing the Machine


does not show any outward signs of damage. Any sign of
damage to the case indicates possible damage to the

7.5 Storing the packed Machine

The cases containing the Machine and the additional optional units
must not be stacked one on top of the other.
The case containing the packed Machine must be stored in a cool, dry
and covered place protected from sun, rain and snow.
After taking delivery of the consignment from the carriers, the cases
should be unpacked and the Machine installed as early as possible
within a reasonable time. Fig No. 7/3
Pam-Pac shall not be responsible for any deterioration or damage of
the Machine resulting from prolonged or faulty storage of the
Machine in packed or unpacked condition.
7.6 Unpacking the Machine
The case containing the packed Machine should be unloaded from
the truck with the help of forklift or a crane taking care of instructions
contained in point number 4. The packed Machine, after unloading,
should be placed on the floor with'Top Side Up' as marked on the case
symbols.

The unpacking of the Machine should then be done in the following
sequence.

7.6.1 First remove the Aluminium cover of the pocket marked
'Packing Slip' on the case, and carefully read the contents of
the documents contained in the pocket.
7.6.2 Remove the top plank of the case by unbolting the fastening
nuts and bolts.
7.6.3 Remove the sides marked 'Left' and 'Right' by unbolting the
fastening nuts and bolts.
7.6.4 Unbolt and remove both the wooden supports fixed laterally
across sides marked 'Front' and 'Back'.
7.6.5 Carefully remove all the accessories and other components
and place them on the floor.
7.6.6 Unbolt and remove the sides marked 'Front' and 'Back'.
7.6.7 The Machine with the base platform should then be
transported with the help of forklift or/and a crane as near to Photo No. 7/7

the location as possible where it is to be installed again


taking care of instructions contained in point number 7.4.
7.6.8 Remove the foundation bolts by which the Machine is
fastened to the base platform.
7.6.9 The foundation bolts on the Machine are not easily
accessible from the bottom. For removing these bolts, first

remove loose plank.
After removing this plank, the foundation bolts on the
Machine also become easily accessible from the bottom.
Remove these nuts and Machine will become free from the
base platform.
7.6.10 Now by slowly and carefully inching the forks of a forklift
from the 'Right' side between the Machine and the base
platform, the machine can be lifted from the base platform. Photo No. 7/9

7.6.11 Before transporting the Machine to the exact spot where it is


to be installed, screw on the six antivibration mounting pads
provided with Machine to the bottom of the Machine from
where the six foundation bolts were taken out.
Keep the machine on the forklift or crane, at the exact spot
and position it where it is to be installed. Photo No. 7/10
Always ensure that, while transporting the machine on the
forklift or a crane, the mounting pads are fitted on the
bottom of the machine. In case of the machine being
supplied with the composite unit of mounting pads, it should
always be ensured that the mounting pads are brought to
'lowered down' position while transporting the machine on a
forklift.
7.6.12 Remove the polythene shrink pack and the polythene cover
from the machine.
7.6.13 Similarly unpack other packages received in the same
consignment containing accessories and other components.
7.6.14 Check the total contents of the consignment actually
received with the 'Packing Slip' and other documents
retrieved from the 'Packing Slip' pocket and check for any
shortage, damage or breakage.
Any shortage, damage or breakage should be
immediately reported to the Insurance Company. A

copy of the letter to the Insurance Company should also


be forwarded to Pam Pac.
The Machine should always be lifted, transported and
unpacked taking care as per the instructions contained
in points number 7.4, 7.5 and 7.6
Pam Pac shall not be responsible for any damage to the
Machine or its components or injury to the person lifting
or transporting or unpacking the Machine, if the
instructions are not strictly observed and the Machine is
lifted or transported or unpacked in any way other than
that indicated.

7.7 Disposal of the packing material


Disposal of the wooden planks, polythene waste and all
other material used for packing should be disposed off in
conformity with the prevailing statutory environmental
regulations of the country where the Machine is installed.
