The Salvation Army

Del Oro Division

Serving Northern California & Northern Nevada

2016 Impact Report

Dear Friends,

We are truly blessed to be part of the

Del Oro Division where we interact with
volunteers, board members, employees and
Officers all working together to carry out The
Salvation Armys mission: To serve suffering
humanity without discrimination.

This annual report reflects over half a million

people served by our Division. Those who
lost jobs, children who needed toys for
Christmas, teens who needed after school
programs, those who were hungry, who
needed housing, and those who needed
spiritual care. Each found a safe, loving and
caring place at The Salvation Army.

With your continued support we will grow,

expand and find new, innovative ways to serve all people in need. We will fulfill Gods heart: Defend the
weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Psalm 82:3

God Bless you as we work together to change lives.

Building a New Life in Chico

I was once homeless and

addicted to methamphetamine.
One of my family members
brought me to The Salvation
Armys Rehabilitation Center. With
the love of God, its changed my
whole outlook on life.

Here in Chico, Im the social

services assistant. Every time I
work the food assistance line, I see
the Spirit at work. Its a way of life,
and its changed my life. Giving
back and doing things for others
diminishes that character defect
that I had in myself.

- Chris, graduate of The Salvation

Armys Adult Rehabilitation
Center and current Chico
Corps employee.
Exciting Beginnings in Napa

Im passionate about The Salvation Army, and Im proud of what were doing in Napa,
especially with the new culinary academy. Were taking an organization thats been here
for 130 years and giving it some new relevancy.
- Rick Osgood, Napa Corps Board Member

Mr. Osgood and the Napa Corps

worked hard on launching the
Napa Valley Culinary Training
Academy, which provides
employable skills to adults who
are in recovery.
Hope and Fun for Many to Come

In late September, ground was broken on a new project at our Camp Del Oro in the Sierra Foothills. This
endeavor was made possible by Northern California native and nature lover Stephen Ball, who bequeathed
The Salvation Army $7.2 million in his will. We expect completion of the project in Summer 2017.

This endeavor marks the fruition of a $20 million master plan for Campa plan 14 years in the making.

Three lodges, a gymnasium and a chapel. When

complete, the project will ensure that Camp will
have 278 beds. Large groups of children and rental
groups will be well accommodated.
When Disaster Struck . . .
In August 2016, the Clayton Fire raged through Lake County communities. Entire blocks were swept up by
the blaze. Families evacuated or watched helplessly while their homes and livelihoods went up in flames.

3,929 acres were burned. Nearly 300 homes and buildings were destroyed.

Thanks to our donors and volunteers, this is a story of strength, rebuilding, and neighbors helping
neighbors. We were able to come together and provide . . .

We also served up hearty portions of compassion,

providing spiritual care for 512 wildfire victims.
