My Last Court=My First Love

A story about a second year student, with some realistic events like periodic
and achievement tests and even field trips...Enjoy reading.. it's very long.

Now, I did my best I guess my best wasnt good enough, but please!!!! Its
just a matter of yes and no but why? Why did you let me do this? Why did
you let me come through this great challenge in fact that youre better than
me? Please!!!!! Just be mine..

And so the boy grieved for he couldnt win her love. He was very frustrated
and felt useless in this world.

10 months ago, during the start of the school year, he was a new student.
Good morning, my name is Allan. I came from Mandaue National High
School. I transferred here because, you know, that school is composed of
MATH WIZRADS, his new classmates then acknowledged him as their new
classmate and friend of course. Later on that time, suddenly a girl
approached him very angrily. Hey!!! Did you mean that this school is
composed of MATH BEASTS? Allan replied why? Did you hear me say that?
the girl said Because you said earlier that Mandaue National High School is
composed of MATH WIZRDS and thereby you are kicked out because youre
not too good in MATH therefore whatever school you are transferred to
already precludes that that school is composed of MATH BEASTS Allan
replied Why? Do you feel like one the girl replied Then why, among all the
schools in the world, did you choose this school as your transfer school?
Then softly, Allan answered Because I BELIEVE that, IN HERE, on this very
ground, I will be a MATH WIZARD. The girl felt speechless and was unable to
ask anymore questions to Allan that she was shocked at what Allan had
answered.

The next meeting they had pre-test in math and Allan got 12/50 while the
girl, whom he had met through an argument, got perfect!! Then, Allan said to
himself By the way she talks, I could already sense that she is very good in
MATH, thats why she reacted so violently to what I had said. Days have
passed, series of good scores are gained by the girl, and however, Allan got
series of low scores.

One meeting the teacher asked Allan Allan, what is the slope of the equation
having the x and y intercepts of 3 and -5?, If you cant answer youll remain
standing then, Allan rushed himself, finding a piece of graphing paper in
order to graph what his sir had asked, then he said Sir the slope is -5/3
the teacher replied wrong remain standing luckily, the same girl
answered to save Allan Sir, with all due respect, let him sit down because I
have an answer to your question, the slope is 5/3 the teacher replied Good!
Why dont you want to let Allan stand the rest of the period? She replied
because hes just a new student and he must be adjusting yet to what our
environment is composed of. Hes not yet familiar of your way of lessons and
teachings sir so give him last chance. The teacher replied (addressing to
Allan) all alright, you really are a new student and you must be adjusting to
your new environment so Im giving you first and last chance. Allan said
Thank you sir, by all means. Then the teacher asked the girl then how
were you able to compute for the slope without using a graphing paper. The
girl proudly answered We used to write x and y intercepts as (x, 0) and (o,
y) respectively. And we also know that m = (y2 y1)/(x2 x1), therefore by
substitution, m = (0 y)/(x 0) and we could come up to y/x and lastly,
since these are the intercepts, we write x as a and y as b therefore, m = -b/a.
Trying to check my answer, since the x and y intercepts are 3 and -5
respectively, substituting (-5)/3 will be the slope, simplifying, we get 5/3
Thats how to get the slope given the x and y interceptsthe teacher said
Very good, Im looking forward of this great talent of yours.

Allan started to admire the girl for her being very good in math. And on break
time, he approached the girl Whats your name anyway? The girl replied
Why do you ask so Then he said because no man is an island. Everyone
needs a friend, doesnt he? the girl said Never mind Im no one. Allan
reacted why? Can a woman be an island? Can you live alone? Dont you
need a friend? She replied not everything is as it seems Allan again asked
is this because Im not good in math? Tell me!!! Youre insulting me Does
not a person, who is not good in math, deserve to have a friend? Or does a
person, who is VERY GOOD in math, deserve to have a lot of friends, millions
of friends? Tell me.!! Then she shouted You dont have to listen to my
reason, you dont understand Allan replied Yeah I do, I dont know if I will
Allan walked away from her very lonely while she whispered to himself he
doesnt understand

The next meeting parallel question was thrown to Allan by his teacher what
is the slope of the equation having the x and y intercepts of 1 and 7
respectively? He immediately replied Never mind sir I am not good in
math, Im sorry just let me stand here for the rest of the period So, the
teacher let him stand. The girl felt guilty of the actions of Allan so she
decided to be his friend.

The next day, Allan and the girl met again however, Allan directly said to her
Im through with arguments then the girl replied My name is Sarah and
she thought that Allan wasnt listening to him. And said If you dont want to
be my friend, neither do I, then Allan turned around and said If I dont want
to be your friend, neither do you. What does that imply huh? Am I not the
first one whos asking for a friendship? Do you know what you just told me? I
know what you meant. Im not to be soaked with white clothes because Im
the colored one!!! Sarah replied with certain inclination to crying Its
because of LOVE!!! Allan said what about it? I dont have the intention to
court you, do I? Then Sarah cried. Allan went near to Sarah and asked
Why? What happened? She answered Someone courted me and I became
his girlfriend and you know what happened? I failed in math. Allan said how
sad Sarah said how about you? Allan answered uhm, I have had many
girlfriends before but I had not felt their love. I dont know when am I going
to love again but not the same as what I had felt with them, so uhmm. I
guess I should be the one who will apologize to you Sarah replied Forget it,
now that you know my reasons. Allan said Friends Then she replied
Friends

Sarah is the first friend of Allan. By the time they meet outside, they smile at
each other. And every time Sarah answers correctly to the teachers
question, they smile as well each other.

The teacher asked Allan, what is the sum of roots of the equation 3x2 + 2x
4 = 0 Allan answered sir, -2/3 The teacher said Very good Allan, when
have you learned so fast? Allan replied I dont want you to let me
memorize the whole book sir If thats the only way to learn fast The teacher
became speechless. Allan learned to adjust to the environment; he also
started to make friends. Allan, Im pleased to meet you, my name is John
and here is Eric Allan replied pleased to meet you too. Where have you
heard my name? they said From Sarah Allan said why? they said shes
interested in you Allan said Not true, friendship begets friendship they
replied but what else begets LOVE? Isnt it friendship? Allan reacted thats
not going to happen.

The next day Allan and Sarah met outside Hello, Allan, have a great day.
Allan replied Yeah you too. And by the way, are you the one who told Eric
and John my name? She replied Yes I am; Allan asked why is that so?
She replied Dont you like to scatter your name throughout this vicinity?
Allan said Never mind. On that the same day, when they had their break
Allan approached Sarah Hey, you mind if I take my lunch break with you?
Sarah replied Oh not at all come on. Have a seat They were talking on that
time until such; they came up to the topic about love. Allan asked about
youre past love life, how did it end? Sarah answered Hmmm, I guess my
parents didnt let me continue. And suddenly Allan asked What if someone
courts you again, what will you do? She replied hmm, surely, I would say to
him COURT YOUR FACE hahaha Allan asked again How about if hes being
very serious in courting you, what will you do? Sarah answered What will I
do? Ok I think I have a pretty good idea, were done eating, arent we? she
walked out fast and Allan never meant to say that word and what Sarah
thought is that Allan has an intention to court her.

The next day, Allan, again approached Sarah, Hey, you mind if I.. Sarah
cross-lined Yeah I do have I mind, do you say that? Allan wondered why
Sarah didnt answer according to the way she does. Ann he went near to her
and told her seriously I like you, do you think thats not worth thinking of?
Do you think that nothing matters if someone admires you? Do you think
that Sarah again cross-lined why not bother yourself instead of me being
careful? Do you think thats not worth thinking of? Allan replied Because I
care!!! Because I dont want to lose a friend Sarah replied Why? Do you
feel like youre losing me? No!!! Im JUST your friend and thats all it is ever
going to be!!! She ran.

There were many days that they havent talked to each other. Allan felt tense
of their situation because hes friendly. He said to himself why? I didnt do
anything. I just said that I like her, and everything that had newly been born
has already popped out. From that time, Allan already couldnt recognize his
feelings that he kept on thinking about Sarah
And he wondered that that is already love.

As he kept on thinking of her, she keeps on thinking of her studies and

everything. It was already 3rd grading period and they havent still talked.
Then Allan said I hoped I havent met her. She made me realize how to
admire. I havent admired anyone before. I havent liked anyone before. Its
just her. One meeting, the class is divided into pairs and luckily, Allan and
Sarah were chosen to be partners! The teacher said Now, if anyone of you
here is not interested in your partner, come with me personally, Allan was
quite sure that Sarah wouldnt want to be his partner. During the project
making, Sarah suddenly approached Allan so Allan, what now? What will be
our project all about? Allan answered A-a-aah-aah-h-aa-h, nothing? Sarah
said Nothing? If well have our project as nothing, our grades are nothing,
right? Come on lets work.

Being a student, Allan and Sarah made their project, while they were making,
Allan whispered to himself Why didnt she complain about me being her
partner Allan didnt know that Sarah heard him so Sarah replied Because in
class, we are classmates Allan said Ahh ok, then, how about outside class?
Sarah said we are outside classmates Allan laughed hahaha but Sarah
shouted Do you want to laugh this time and cry tomorrow or sweat this time
and happy tomorrow? Allan said ok sorry.

They finished their project and they got the highest score. Allan said Yes!!!
We did it Sarah said yeah, we did On the break time, Allan went near to
Sarah to apologize I think Ive said the wrong things lately, and Ive acted so
weirdly these days because of what I said. I want to---a------, I want to say
sorry. I didnt want to break our friendship. Sarah replied I like you too.
Among all my classmates, no one has ever dared to apologize to me ever
since except you. Allan replied So, does that mean were friends? Sarah
said IT DOES.

Their friendship even got stronger after they had not conflicted anymore.
They ate their lunch together and went home together, as if they are already
best friends and they answer their home works together.

One meeting, the teacher asked Allan, if y varies directly as x and y = 1

when x = 2 what is y when x = 4? Allan answered x = 2 Allan got sharp in
math when hes with Sarah because she teaches him. One day, they talked
again; Allan asked Sarah, will you be my girlfriend Sarah replied Are you
trying to stab me in the back? Allan said Not that I wanted. But perhaps I
couldnt control my feelings anymore and Im dull in math without you. Im
asking you to be with me always. So be my girlfriend. Please. Sarah replied
No!!! Allan asked Why not? Sarah answered because I dont want to fail
in math again Allan said You dont have to fail in math if you prioritize your
time with it Sarah answered really? Then why wont my parents let me
come through this? Allan answered Then why do you have parents? It is
because of love Sarah, and I LOVE YOU Sarah answered If you ever say
those words again, youre mouth is not going to say anything anymore!!
She walked outAllan said Again? Why havent I ever controlled these
words? Now that Im pretty sure shes not going to forgive me anymore,
perhaps shes still my classmate and shell talk to me about class and only
about class.

For their 3rd grading project, the class was assigned by pairs again to make
the project. And AGAIN, Sarah and Allan are chosen to be pairs. Then Allan
smiled while Sarah was angry. Allan approached Sarah so, why dont we
work it out? Sarah replied You and Clarisse are partners not me anymore.
Youre not worth even a classmate. She walked outAllan regretted that he
had said those emotional words I shouldnt have said is How dull am I to
come through this? Am I not mature enough? From that time on, Allan and
Sarah never became best friends anymore. Allan said to himself Now I
realize that Its better to never be careless about developing feelings rather
than to risk the friendship just to be developed. How can I answer my
periodical test without her? How could I do certain things? Im still a new
student and Im still short on friends. Huhuhu He cried silently. This was the
first time Allan cried for someone.

During the periodic test Allan still kept on thinking about Sarah What will I
do to make her change her mind? their proctor said Times up, now pass
your papers. But Allan hasnt answered a thing!!! Allan said Oh my God! I
forgot to answer it!! Then Allan gained 1 + 1 = 0. After the exam, the 2nd
years are arranged for their educational tour. So every 2nd year student was
very eager & ready to see unusual species they had never seen. Many
brought their cameras and cell phones to capture great moments. Allan
didnt bring anything and still kept thinking about her, all the while, Sarah
was very happy that her smile reached her ears because of the excitement.

Allan said to his classmate May I borrow your camera? his classmate then
said Oh yes you may. Allans plan was to take a picture of Sarah for his
remembrance. (Camera snap) Sarah said I dont think Im feeler but my
mind keeps on asking me about why you took a picture of me? Allan
answered You wont have to hear my reasons. With satisfaction, Allan was
slightly happy because Sarah finally spoke to him. Then, on the way home at
7: 00 pm, while Sarahs walking on the quiet street, a boy approached her,
Hey pretty girl! Sarah didnt say anything. He said again Hi pretty girl
Sarah still said nothing but silence. The last time, the boy said I highly
suggest you talk to me right now, because if you dont, I dont think you
wont regret on not talking to me when you are already naked.
Sarah became nervous and tense to what the boy had said, suddenly, Allan
appeared like a fairy and said You wont have to unclothe her because youll
be unclothed by my fists, now if I ever see you flirting my girlfriend again,
(showing his muscles), these are going to flirt you stitch by stitch. The boy
ran. Sarah was still mute, in a few minutes of silence, Sarah rose up her
voice Im curious, why were you telling that I am your girlfriend? Allan
answered Alibis are made for alibis but truths are made for truths. I need to
speak the alibis to keep you safe Sarah asked Then why do you want me to
be kept safe? Allan replied wisely because sometimes, we have to lie for
the good intention but soon, we realize that it is still bad He walked out.

Sarah said to herself I forgot to thank him; I never realized that he is a good
person, according to the way he answers me, those, every time, made me
realize something. I shouldnt have said those words that hurt him. Sarah
was close to regretting but still never unleashed her anger. On the checking
for the periodic test, Sarah was the highest scorer while Allan was the lowest
one. That time, Sarah badly regretted what she had said because that may
have been the reason why Allan got low scores. When Sarah looked at the
test paper of Allan, all that was written there was I AM SORRY SARAH, each
item contains that phrase and Sarah already felt the love of Allan and she
started to wisely decide.

One day, Sarah was ready to talk to Allan; she met him and said I will be
your girlfriend but. In one condition, be the highest in Math for the
incoming NAT this March 2009. Allan couldnt believe it and said Well, I
guess you already realized how much I care for you. Sarah answered so
much with that, yes, thats why I have decided it not only to be yours but to
help yourself and to cope up with your low scores in the periodical test
because I bet that its a little bit of my fault. Allan said alright. I accept it as
our deal, Ill be the highest in the NAT and I will be your boyfriend and
What if I wont make it? Sarah wisely answered well lets just consider it
the positive way, ok? Both smiled.

From that time on, after their conversation, Allan ran to his seat to study
math. About the radicals the variation and he also advanced studied the
sequence and series. Sarah was astonished as what Allan had proven that
hes willing to be hers.

Every quizzes, seatwork and assignments, Allan got good scores and then
one meeting, the teacher said Allan, is (0.3)2 = 0.9 ? Allan immediately
answered Not sir because since we are going to square 0.3, Itll be written
as 0.3 x 0.3 performing the multiplication which gives us 0.09. In short,
(0.3)2 is not equal to 0.9 because 0.9 only contained a decimal place, it
should contain two decimal places. The teacher was amazed by his
explanations. Then Sarah was happy about her motivation to Allan but still
deciding on what is she going to do when Allan makes it as the highest in
Math for the NAT.

Few months later, on the month of January, it was already 4th grading and
what Allan had advanced studied, appeared. The teacher asked Now who
can tell me all the formulas needed for the sequence and series? Allan
proudly raised his hand and proudly answered. He was able to give all the
formulas for the sequence and series. Sarah again was astonished.

March 10, 2009, the day before the NAT, Allan and Sarah personally talked.
Allan said Tomorrow is the time right? Sarah said yeah so, I hope youll do
your best tomorrow and well hold up our end of the deal, ok Allan said
Ok! Allan was ready for the next day.

During the NAT, Allan prayed to get the highest score in the exam. Allan
never really found the test very hard but he still found a test item from which
he was quite uncertain with the answers. Allan and Sarah were the first ones
to finish the NAT and they talked. Allan said So, whatever you have written
there, you already cant change it. Sarah replied neither can you therefore
my decision lies on the NAT result.
The next day, this was the checking for the NAT duplicates and Allan was
very eager to know his score whether hell be the highest or not. Allan sat
beside Sarah as they checked each others paper, every correct answer Allan
had obtained; he whispered to her YOURE MINE. The results came out and
it turned out to be that Allan and Sarah both got the same scores
of 50/60 but they are the highest. And Allan said We never talked about ties,
did we? Sarah replied Oh yeah, I didnt expect this to happen. Allan said
so, since it isnt written, can I have your decision as the tie breaker? Sarah
answered Im sorry Allan; I know you did your best. From the start, Ive
observed you grades which are low and then today, Ive seen you improving!
But still, youre not the only highest so my answer is NO

Allan was so lonely and one time, he approached her and said Now, I did
my best I guess my best wasnt good enough, but please!!!! Its just a

me come through this great challenge in fact that youre better than me?
Please!!!!! Just be mine.. Sarah replied Like what you said, you accepted
this as our deal and since youre not the only highest so Im sorry, I hate to
admit it.

And so Allan grieved for he couldnt win her love. He was very frustrated and
felt useless in this world.

Allan wasted his effort and time for his studies but still, he couldnt beat
Sarah, he was so lonely that nobody could ever draw his face. Sarah was also
lonely about what Allan felt, since they held up their ends of their deal, she
said no to him and thats all

One day, when the results of NAT which is the original one came to the
school and they ranked the first. Everyone was happy and celebrating except
the two.

Allan talked to Sarah Sarah, like what I said, It is our deal so, I accept it but
can I have one last question? Sarah replied What is that? Allan asked Can
I be your boyfriend? I know it is part of our deal, now is the time to move
independently without standards. I did my best but your best was better and
now is the time to prove to you that Im not willing to give up JUST LIKE THAT
and to surrender your love. Can I be your boyfriend? Sarah took much time
to answer but her answer is really NO then Allan knelt down in front of her
surrounded by every classmate in their room and asked I have to show and
prove to you that my love doesnt have prerequisites. Love doesnt require
anything! I mean it just appeared with a pleasant purpose so, I have to say
this to everyone. (Addressing to his classmates) I LOVE SARAH and nows the
time for her to reply, (addressing to Sarah) now Sarah, Ive said my part,
nows the time to say yours. Sarah said Im really sorry Allan. But
suddenly, her adviser came to tell them about their NAT results. He said
Now, you have to acknowledge someone, someone who suddenly burned a
blaze and actively participated, someone I just shortly knew, and someone I
believe that can be trusted. We congratulate our new student for being the
highest in the NAT exam. (Everyone clapped their hands).

Allan wondered why, but he must have just miscopied some items there in
their duplicates. Sarah happily shouted Im sorry Allan to tell you. That I
WILL BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND!!!!!! Everyone howled. And Allan was shocked
and they hugged each other. Allans plan was fulfilled because of his
determination and inspiration. From that time, they improved their
relationship and even stronger and stronger and to the strongest among all.
Allans statement BECAUSE HERE, ON THIS VERY GROUND, I WILL BE A
MATH WIZARD, that he had said during the first day of the class, is already
proven right. He also shared that he had a lot of girlfriends before; however,
no one else made his heart full of arrows from cupid more than Sarah did.
Sarah became the inspiration of Allan and also the other way around. Since
the start, Allan sensed something different from her. Its like he sensed that
there is something in Sarah that no one else has, OPENNESS. Being open is
important, because we will all know what a person is hiding and who is
he/she hiding it from. We can never discern whether a person is open or not
until we become acquainted with him/her, just like Allan did. Love is
everywhere. We dont know when will it attack, where, how and even who,
but theres only one thing we know about it. It is the WHY. Love will attack us
because we deserve to be. And when it does, we should never take it for
granted. Because sometimes, true love is less frequent than the appearance
of Haileys comet. But every time, ever where, we should know that LOVE is
enough, it doesnt have to be LOVERS. This story is close to real life. It might
happen someday, and when it does, if you cant follow your heart and brain,
follow GOD, because He leads you to a perfect place If theres a will, there is
always a way. We cant work without the purpose of doing so. Allan was very
happy, so was Sarah. And their school year ended with a great smile.
