A day for writing activity. Since this class was low in their proficiency and also need help to
improve in their writing, I decided to make a fun lesson for them. I planned not to give
individual work rather more to group work and also responds from the pupils. So for the day I
provided all of them a red marker. The activity was on rearranging sentences. So I gave few
examples on how to write a sentence. I used the crossing and numeral method for them to
understand. First I wrote the sentences in wrong orders. ( s Durian, This) and I questioned
them which word should we write first. So they answer the word This. The words were in a
box so I crossed the first word and wrote it on the line. And it goes on until they managed to
get the right order of the sentences.

This activity was really fun and engaging, because the correction was done by the pupils
with the teachers guidance. The disaster begin on the while and post. For while I provided
each group a task sheet with the same sentences that I introduced in the pre writing. I was
hoping that the pupils can do, unfortunately they were struggling to do it. I found that they
are not familiar with words like, king, flesh and extra. But in my previous lesson I have
introduced them, and wondering how they could not remember. Why was is so difficult for
them to do the rearranging. What if I have asked them to write on their own? Question marks
was running all over my head. Well it is not their mistake, those pupils level are low and I
should use the simplest sentences ever. But some managed to do.

I was unable to do the production part because they took time on rearranging the sentences.
I was only able to close the lesson. So it is considered that my lesson objective was partially
achieved. I was disappointed but I will not give up. Since they can simple sentences I may
should give more exercise on simple sentences rather than compound. Syllabus are created
general, it is not created with the consideration of pupils level. Malaysian education system
is more to exam oriented so we only can type as action but noting can be done in action so, I
would try to make my pupils write on their own with my intervention. They still have space to
improve. When a child is born it is not categorised as brilliant and dumb. Environment and
pupils who labels them. Stop labelling and start helping. Future needs them.

The second last day of the week, my lesson for today was with year 3 Gigih and the lesson
was on grammar. Well today I just wanted my pupil enjoy and learn how to use adjectives in
their communication and also how to identify adjectives in a sentence.

These pupils are good in English, only some they understand but do not speak in English
because they are afraid they might be wrong. Well I encourage them to speak even it is
broken, at least they are trying. That is a teachers job. When give positive words towards
them it helps them to feel that I can do better. Teacher will help me. That trust is important in
a teacher-student relationship.

The starting of lesson was very interesting and fun, because normally teacher introduces the
topic of the day, but I asked my pupils to do it. When they need to form the topic of the day, it
was a bit difficult because the only clue was the unit of the week which is fruit. So finding the
phrase without any indication was difficult, so I gave them the first letter of the word, and
they managed to find the topic of the day. When there is a little facilitation pupils can do it in
the right way.

The lesson went well and pupils enjoyed playing the word search activity. Well word search
activity helps pupils to know more words and increase their memory as well. So they were
asked to read the text on watermelon and find the adjectives of the fruit. Some managed to
find some did not, but however they discussed in their group and managed to find 10 each.
Which is good already.

And as for the post activity I had a riddle competition where pupils need to fill the blanks with
the right pictures by reading the riddle, which contains adjectives that describes a fruit.
Pupils were excited and completed the activity in the time allocated for them. they enjoyed
the activity and surprisingly even the naughty ones participated today because they had to
run to the in front and get back to their friend. They are athletes they like running, rolling,
jumping but not seating. So I had to plan the lesson where it has the elements of
kinaesthetic so that the pupils would not feel bored and lazy.
