MAKING CONNECTIONS
What is Text-to-Self Connection?
A text-to-self connection is a personal connection between the
story or text and one's feelings or life experiences.
It helps the reader visualize what's happening in the story. It adds to ones mental
image.
It keeps the reader interested and focused. It does not distract the reader or make
them forget what they are reading.
It helps the reader make smart predictions. It gives them clues on what will happen
next.
It deepens or adds to a readers understanding of the text.

DIRECTIONS: Locate and Read Matthew 18: 21-35 carefully. For each connection that
you will make as you read, note down the key events or ideas and your text-to-self
connections in 2-3 sentences in your double entry journal. Remember to follow the
mechanics of good writing.
