THEORY:
Introduction; Classification of vegetable and flower seed crops; Floral seed biology;
Soil and climatic requirements; Breeding systems. Methods of seed production;
Hybrid Seed production; Maturity Indices; Quality control; Postharvest handling and
processing, seed storage; Seed testing and enhancement; Legislation and law
enforcement.
PRACTICAL:
Identification of vegetable and flower seed; Practical performance of different
methods; Crossing, isolation, pollination; Roughing, harvesting, threshing, cleaning,
grading, packaging, storage and seed testing.
