A Gay Solution to Over Population

The world is over populated at a rate that it cannot keep sustaining itself. Homosexual

couples help the environment by not contributing to the overpopulation. Gay families also

ethically manage the over production by maintaining that which is over produced. Due to over

population, gay and lesbian couples who dont reproduce help with over population.

Homosexual families help with the environment by reducing human waste by not reproducing,

managing productions, and per capita live a more ecofriendly lifestyle.

Fact: the world is over populated and cannot sustain itself. Fact: this over

population is killing the planet, and in turn is killing us. Eluxe Magazine states the proceeding of

over population by stating The twentieth century was a bonanza for the human population,

which grew from 1.5 billion in 1900 to six billion by 1999 (and on to seven billion in the twenty-

first centurys first decade). According to the US Census Bureau, our species has a net gain of

one person every sixteen seconds. (McCutcheon) This has to have effects on more the society

and the economy. It must have effects on the wellness of the plant. Logically more people, means

more consumption. We already are wasteful, add more wasters to the equations then we will be

depleting the worlds renewable and unrenewable resources. Eluxe Magazine also states

Overpopulation is already affecting the 750 million people worldwide who have no access to

potable water sources, and 2.5 billion are without proper sanitation. Many believe weve passed

or are in the throes of a peak-water situation, meaning voracious demand has outpaced renewable

supply, and ecological costs outweigh benefits of extraction. Besides industrial pollution, much

of the water crisis is due to intensive agriculture designed to feed a growing number of humans:

the latter half of the twentieth century saw irrigation systems nearly triple worldwide, from 100

million hectares in 1950 to 280 million hectares in 2000, to feed the burgeoning population.

(McCutcheon) This reinstates the importance of overpopulation and how it has created issues

here, on earth. Anything that helps reduce overpopulation, including gay marriage, should be

aided and abet.

As it can be assumed over population is a true and relevant issue for humankind.

Homosexual couples help by not reproducing and by taking care of children of those who are

abandoned. The Huffington Post unregards to homosexuality as population control states With

the natural world on the brink of demise largely because of overpopulation, unrestrained

homosexuality, as one of a variety of ethical and democratic measures available to us today,

offers perhaps the most natural option to be enjoined. What other options are as attractive? We

dont want to die young. We dont want to face illness or catastrophe. Many individuals and

societies refuse abortion and birth control. Few would condone or submit willingly to the kind of

international law imposing a one-child policy like that exercised by China on all nations. And we

hardly need to be reminded of the history of racist, eugenicist, and militarist agendas for

imposing growth control on unwilling and unknowing populations. So why homosexuality

shouldnt be seen as providing a viable option to overpopulationto the point that the worlds

nations come to encourage its practice and esteem its benefits? It is, after all, the most

harmonious way to control the populationconsidering all thats required is that we love and

support our gay sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, parents, friends, lovers, and selves. (Denson)

Homosexuality is a way to ethically depopulate the world, and prevent the degradation of the

world. It can be reasonably asked if homosexuality can help supplement over population, how

many gays are there, and would there be enough to make an impact? Times magazine states As

the LGBT population moves into its full and equal place in public life, many people are asking

an old question with new urgency: just how many LGBT Americans are there? After centuries in

the shadows, many experts believe that we need a full accounting of the nations LGBT

population and how they live for legal, economic and health reasons. Now, for the first time, a

group of experts from 21 federal agencies are working on a project to figure out how to do just

that. The results could pave the way for first-ever surveys of Americas sexual orientations and

gender identities and influence everything from local laws to military policy to health care.

Homosexual individuals tend to be greener than their counterparts. Grist.org, displays the

following statistics 55 percent of LGBT adults vs. 33 percent of straight adults say they care a

lot about green issues. 48 vs. 25 percent consider the environment when shopping. 45 vs. 27

percent highly value a political candidates stance on green issues. 25 vs. 17 percent use the

environment as a factor when considering a potential employer. (Richmond) this is contributed

to by several different factors, part of the existence for LGBTQ communities is contributed to by

their potion for healthier living and lifestyles. The Eco friendliness of the gay community is also

contributed to by several factors such as social awareness. Grist.org states For starters, gay

rights and climate change are both human rights issues. Kathleen Connell writes in San Diego

Gay & Lesbian News, Our own hampered civil and personal lives mirrors [sic] a disregard for

our home planet, which is in crisis from a century of abuse. The mentality that allows desecration

of the ecosystem is the same mindset that continues to allow the second-class citizenship of

LGBT people everywhere. (Richmond) This alludes to the social responsibility created by

social justice.

Gay adoption is a factor that could help support the world ethically. Although they may produce

consumers that contributes to the degradation of the world, they are literally saving children from

death, substance abuse, and suffering. Like previously stated, they also would instill a healthier

lifestyle, and therefore, inspire more ecofriendly endeavors. Gay adoption is encouraged because

it is an effective way to clean up the problems of over production. The Chicago Tribune stated

times more likely to raise foster youth and four times more likely to raise adopted youth than

population.

According to the U.S. Supreme Court case Obergefell V. Hodges, Gay marriage is legal

in these United States of America. This is important to adoption, beyond instituting equal rights

of all citizens, it allows these families to have the legal apparatus to support children.

Dosomething.org stated In 2013, the Supreme Court struck down parts of the Defense of

Marriage Act (DOMA) (which defined marriage as a union between man and woman) and

declared that the federal government would recognize same-sex marriages as legal. With the

Defense of Marriage Act struck down, the federal government began recognizing same-sex

marriage and all marriage programs, benefits, and laws such as social security and health

benefits. As of July 2014, same-sex marriage is legal in 19 states, plus the District of Columbia.

Push for more progress by asking friends and social influencers to publicly support LGBT rights.

In July 2009, the Senate approved the Matthew Shepard Act, which outlaws hate crimes based on

both sexual orientation and gender identity. The Employment Nondiscrimination Act, first passed

Congress in 2007, is the act that prohibits discrimination of sexual orientation in the workplace,

specifically during hiring. Of the estimated 1.6 million homeless American youth, approximately

20% identify as LGBT, which is higher than the general LGBT youth population with homes

(10%). In 2012, President Obama made US History when he told ABC News, I think same-sex

couples should be able to get married. As of 2014, 13 states have banned gay marriage through

law, constitutional amendments, or both. 15 countries currently allow same-sex couples to marry,

including the United States (in some states), the Netherlands, South Africa, Canada, Belgium,

Norway, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Iceland, Argentina, Denmark, Uruguay, New Zealand, and

France. Colorado is the only state to allow civil unions but not marriage between same-sex

couples.(dosomething.org) it is the peoples right to help with over population.

In conclusion, over population is killing the world and we need to do something to fix it. Gay

adoption can supplement the situation. Homosexual endeavors are more ecofriendly and

productive than their counterparts. Homosexual families help with the environment by reducing

human waste by not reproducing, managing productions, and per capita live a more ecofriendly

lifestyle.
