Faculty of Nursing Jamia Hamdard was established in 1983 by Late Hakim Abdul
Hameed Sahib with DGNM programme. In the year 1994 the faculty started with the
B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing programme and another milestone was achieved by starting M.Sc
Nursing programme in the year 2008.
Since then,hundreds of students have passed and been recruited at the best hospitals all
over India and abroad as well .Through their skilled performance,they have established
high reputation and are highly demanded for recruitment in the top most hospitals of
Delhi and other states as well .
An Alumni association is an association of graduates or more broadly of former
students.The association often organizes social events, publishes news letters or
magazines and raises funds for the organization fropm time to Time
Since Rufaida College of Nursing has been one of the foundation stone of the university,

has been felt that we need to form an alumni association to strenthen the relationship of
alumni and college and also provide a better networking for the nurse professionals for
future.

Faculty Of Nursing
The erstwhile Rufadia School of Nursing, now Rufadia College of Nursing (Faculty of Nursing),
was established in 1983 as per the vision of Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb, the founder
of Jamia Hamdard, who wanted to encourage girls from Muslim minority community and weaker
sections of the society to take up the noble profession of Nursing. Jamia Hamdard became
Deemed to be University in the year 1989. Rufaida College of Nursing initially started with
Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery Programme, and later in 1994, 2008 2013 and 2014,
B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and Ph.D. in Nursing were
started, respectively. The Faculty of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard has been working towards the
achievement of following objectives, ever since its inception:
To provide good quality education and training to student nurses at the undergraduate,
post-graduate and doctoral levels.
The courses offered by Faculty of Nursing are recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC).
The students are given clinical, hands-on training in the parent hospital i.e. HAHC Hospital and
other affiliated hospitals, such as Safdarjung Hospital, VIMHANS, IHBAS, health centre cum
Maternity Home,M.C.D, Badarpur, to name a few. The faculty members and students since year
2000 and have been successfully running Rufaida Health Centre, a Community Outreach
Centre, situated in Sangam Vihar, opposite Jamia Hamdard. The students and teachers have
been continuously involved in various researches and community service activities, such as
conduction of mass health education projects, health camps, health melas etc.
Their participation and endeavours in certain health issues such as immunization, maternal and
child health, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and alcoholism, promotion of mental health etc.,
have been commendable. Students participate in various cultural, sports and co-curricular
activities and have won many prizes.
