history of Michigan.

Students will learn and understand the daily life of the Mascouten tribe.

learned about a few different tribes, what images come to
mind? What are some common misperceptions of Native
Americans?

Instructional Procedures
1. Open monopoly board game and ask students to identify the game and its pieces.
2. Explain that games and toys are a part of many cultures past and present.
3. Introduce Native American tribes(Mascouten tribe) and tell the students what they valued and
what their lives were like.
4. Tell students they are creating a board game about the Mascouten tribe.
5. Next, divide the students into groups of 2 or 3 to create the game.
6. At the end you may have the students play each others board game.

Accommodations for Differentiated Instruction


You could draw or label diferent parts of the board game to give the
Special Needs Student student the right idea of what they are creating.

You could challenge the student to create a different element of the board
Gifted/Talented Student game that other students dont have to do.
