Academic Corner
Reading: R2Determine details for a poem
from details in the text, & summarize the
test. R4Develop vocabulary. R5Describe
text structures in a poem. R6Distinguish
point of view. R8Explain authors purpose.
Read George Washingtons Socks, & answer
standard based questions to go w/it (for a
grade). The END of UNIT TEST will be the
week of March 6.
Language Arts: L5Demonstrate
understanding of figurative language, word
relationships & nuances in word meanings
(similes/metaphors, meanings of common
idioms, adages, & proverbs). Quizzes
weekly
Writing: W1-3Write an informational for
audience, purpose; organize & develop
writing; select words to convey meaning, &
use transitional words/ phrases to connect
ideas.. Trying to write daily(grade at end
of final papers). The 90 minute writing on
Canvas will be the week of March 6.
Math: G1Draw & identify lines & angles;
classify shapes by properties of lines &
angles. G2Classify 2-D figures based on
the presence or absence of parallel or
perpendicular lines & angles. Recognize
right triangles. G3Recognize lines of
symmetry for 2-D figures, identify them, &
draw them. Quizzes weekly
SS: H5Analyze the challenges of a New
Nation. E1Use basic economic concepts
(referring to forming a new nation). The
TEST will be the week of March 6.

All Northside parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent
Survey. The data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate
Star Rating. Northside is currently ranked as a 3-Star school for 2015 based
upon parent, staff, and student survey results, attendance, and discipline data,
but it is our goal to become a 4-Star school in 2016! Survey responses are
anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of
Education for analysis.
