A. Introduction
- Once all students have signed in and sat at their table the teacher will explain the Book Tasting.
- "Today, you all will be participating in a Book Tasting. In the back of the room, you will
see books all over the back table. These books are by the same author/illustrator; Oliver
Jeffers."

into the author's (Oliver Jeffer) life and body of work."

B. Development
- "So, at your table, each of you has a menu with an appetizer, entre and dessert column. You will
go to the back of the room, choose a book and either read it (if you really like it) or skim it. Once
you are finished, if you really loved it, fill out one of those columns with the book title and what
you liked about it."
- "If you did not love the book, you do not need to fill out the menu, simply put it back on
the table. Try your best to fill out each column on your menu."
- The teacher will instruct the students to first, without touching the books, to just go to the back
table and look at the books and think of one they would like to skim.
- Once the students have done this, the teacher will allow them to pick a book and get started on
the book tasting.
- The teacher will give students 20 minutes to read, skim, and complete the worksheets in
the book tasting.
