What well learn


Today, well continue our exploration of imperialisms impact by looking for statistics and
data that tell how our selected country was affected by imperialism and colonialism. To do
that, well have to get a handle on our countrys colonial past, and then think about what
kinds of facts and figures are representative of that story.

Why this matters


By the time you enter college, you should be a data whiz. Thats simply a skill 21st century
scholars need to have. Moreover, youll find that your research can have a greater impact
when you display it visually. Thats true whether your career is selling smartphones or
curing cancer.

By the end of this class, you should be able to


Understand the definition and purpose of an infographic
Use data illustrations to communicate key ideas
