I. Objectives:
At the end of this activity, the community development volunteers and
community workers will be able to:
1. Be comfortable with each other
2. Be able to understand and learn the importance of cleaning the
environment and how to properly manage wastes
3. Be able to appreciate the people who makes each place clean
II. Immersion Proper: (See Appendix A)
A. EXPLORE
The volunteers will have a Zumba dance with the community workers
as an ice-breaker to let everyone feel ready for the main activity. (See
Appendix B) After that, the instructors will group the student
volunteers and community workers into 14 teams based on the
number of blocks available. Each team will have one student leader
who will facilitate the a get-to-know exercise to give time to interact
with each other. (See Appendix C)
B. DEEPEN
The instructors will lead a 30-minute talk about proper waste
management. Specifically, the current situation of the planet/ climate
change, definition of proper waste management, how will they
differentiate biodegradable from non-biodegradable, how they can
dispose these things properly, importance of this, and the positive
effects of taking care of the environment (just like what the community
workers are doing). There will be Q&A portion after the talk and the
community workers will be given a simple reward after answering a
certain question. As a conclusion, the community workers and student
volunteers will learn how an individual can make our environment
conserve.
C. EXECUTE
The facilitators and community development volunteers will donate
some cleaning materials and will help the community workers in
cleaning the place by helping them in sweeping, collecting,
segregating and disposing garbage properly in the 14 blocks in
Kasiglahan Village. Also, the community workers participants will
receive an indoor plant for them to keep at their homes. These plants
will make their houses cleaner and greener.
D. RECALL
Just to recall all the learnings throughout this activity, the facilitators
will lead a short game (See Appendix D) and there will be a group
sharing activity after this (See Appendix E).
E. MAINTANING
The community development workers will check the cleanliness of the
14 blocks when they return on November 26 and also if the indoor
plant they provided have survived.

III. Assessment:
Each team will go to their preferred places and they will talk about what
happened during the whole activity. The objective of this small group
discussion is to enable them to share their learnings and experiences as
some of the participants may not be able to share these things in front of
all people. This is also to bind the friendship of all the members of each
group.
