Nomination Form

Taylors University fosters and acknowledges excellence in teaching and learning by recognising
academic staff through EMAS (Exemplary Meritorious Academic Staff).

Purpose
EMAS provides recognition for academic staff who introduce innovative techniques, pedagogies,
methods of delivery, ways of thinking about the course and/or technologies in their teaching and
learning or assessment approaches, and which result in significant improvements in learning
outcomes.

Eligibility
All academic staff are eligible.

Nomination Process
Nominations may be made by members of the academic staff and heads of department.
Nomination forms may be obtained from the Associate Dean, Learning and Quality
(ADLQ).
Complete the nomination form and submit a signed hardcopy AND a softcopy (in Word
Doc format) to your respective ADLQ before the published deadline.

Selection criteria
These criteria will be used:
1. originality of the innovation,
2. implementation of the innovation,
3. impact of the innovation i.e. the extent to which the innovation has resulted in practical
outcomes that have improved teaching and learning and assessment and
4. transferability of the innovation to other contexts.

Selection Process
Nominations will be submitted to the Selection Committee comprising:

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Taylors University


Representatives from the Integrated Teaching and Life-long Learning Centre (InTeLLeCT)
which include the following:
o Head, Teaching and Educational Development (TED)
o Head, Learning and Academic Skills (LASC)
o Head, e - Learning Academy (eLA)
Associate Deans - Learning and Quality

Note: The nominees may be required to do a short presentation to the Selection Committee if necessary.

EMAS Award Presentation

EMAS award recipients will receive a Certificate of Achievement and a cash reward.
Recipients may also be featured in a publication and have their profile published internally or
externally. For more information, please consult your respective ADLQ.
