Social Entrepreneurs:
The power of ideas
"These are people who solve large-scale social problems. They are not politician
s or celebrities, are scattered all over the world: Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazi
l, Hungary, India, Poland and South Africa. They have new ideas to improve the l
ives of people and put them up in cities, countries and, in some cases around th
e world, "and defines David Bornstein, author of How to change the world, in his
recent visit to Buenos Aires. In a talk with N +, Bornstein said that after hav
ing visited several countries for five years interviewing social entrepreneurs,
learned about the inspirational power of these ideas and the potential of genera
ting a massive social transformation. "While this movement still remains hardly
visible in the media, its growth is continuous and global. Represent social entr
epreneurs for social change what business entrepreneurs to the economy. Take ris
ks, undertake and are not afraid to fail or start over, "he said.
Looking for a better quality of life for their environment and develop sustainab
le models that are replicated around the world think globally, act locally. Are
positive, look for leadership within and share their achievements, they grow to
others, not seeking power grab. They believe it is possible to build a more just
, equitable and peaceful, and work tirelessly to make this possible seeking inno
vative approaches and break new ground with new proposals.
The social entrepreneur is a dreamer who takes action by a deep desire for chang
e, for their children, for all children.
The mad open roads then travel wise
What characterizes a social entrepreneur?
Accept the challenges, does not conform with reality adversely. Do not be silent
, you play, get involved, always going forward. They are ordinary people with po
werful ideas, innovative and positive that move motivated by a deep desire to ma
ke reality be less adverse.
Argentine cases presented in this work are examples of a number of proposals tha
t exist in our country.

THE RIGHT TO NUTRITION
The greatest virtue of Abel Albino, a pediatrician from Mendoza, is to promote a

he sought financial support to create the Cooperative for Child Nutrition (Coni

many ignored the reality that is in sight and no one sounds crazy this professio

Preserve traces of prehistoric animals in Argentina
The paleontologist and geologist Teresa Manera de Bianco Argentina seeks to resc
ue an exceptional concentration of animal tracks imprinted in the ground 12,000
years ago, in Pehuen Co, on the Atlantic coast of Argentina. This site two miles
in length was 120 centuries ago an interior lake abounding in birds and mammals
. After spending thousands of years covered by sediments, now the site is threat
ened by rising sea levels and by the influx of tourists.
Currently, way is get the government to build a route away from the coast, in or
der to avoid further damaging the beach. To do this, you need to make the beach
reserve area declared palaeontology. But the economic crisis led to the postpone
ment of many projects. Since 2002, the draft declaration of the reserve area is
locked to the Provincial Legislature.€The paleontologist thinks his Rolex Award
"will be an important help to convince politicians about the importance and urge
ncy of passing the law in question, and provide funds for the construction of th
e road." As a teacher and researcher at the Universidad Nacional del Sur, Bahia
Blanca, soon specialized in the structure of dinosaur eggs. His research won him
the respect of academia, based on a thorough knowledge of local fields and the
publication of articles in the scientific press in Argentina. With the desire to
share his collection of prehistoric treasures in 1989 prompted the founding of
the Municipal Museum of Natural Sciences Charles Darwin, in Punta Alta, which re
mains an honorary director.
Dealing with technical difficulties and bureaucratic hurdles, Teresa Manera work
ing intensively on the preservation of the footprints by obtaining latex molds,
and make available to the scientific world important clues about the lives of an
imals that inhabited the pampas in ancient times. Co Pehuen is not the only pale
ontological site in Argentina, but it is one of the most unique. "There is nothi
