2. What is Social Fact ?

Social Fact is one of the better known articulations of the "building blocks" of

functionalist and structuralist sociology It is also a way of acting, whether fixed or not,

capable of exerting over the individual an external constraint it is also about the values,

cultural norms, and social structures which transcend the individual and are capable of

exercising social control. Social fact is always related to the workings of elaborate

networks of social facts. A theory created by Sociologist Emile Durkheim to describe

how the values, cultural and norms control the action beliefs of individual and society as

whole , It is also quite simply the things that you like brushing your teeth, voting,

shopping, going to church, paying taxes, yielding to pedestrians and so on and so forth,

It is more everything of social or cultural nature which work to determine an individual's

life. Social facts are laws and customs that are external to and precede the individual.

They include how we are raised, educated, employed, and buried.

A lies the perception of the individual grossly conditioned by social realities that form the

boundaries of accepted behavior.
