Australian reptile
Lesson title: Task 1 Making slide three. Curriculum:
Students use their imagination and creativity to make sense of the

Considerations for diversity (extension/alteration):


Students who are computer literate will be able to work
independently during different parts of the lesson, whilst the
teacher works with other students who are having difficulty.
Instructions will be given to those students who can work
independently. Students will be at different levels regarding
computers and their skills.
The students who finish their first slide will have it checked. They
must advise Mr Brown where they retrieved their picture from, to
ensure it is a creditable website before moving on.
Students who finish slide number three, and are ready for their
work to be marked, can complete and extension slide on scientific
name and researching another reptile from a different family.
(Purpose and learning outcomes)
Aim of the lesson: Students will understand how to search using Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer, what a creditable
source is on the internet, open a PowerPoint program, copy and paste a photograph from a website to PowerPoint
and save this to their student folder.

Warning Teacher to give the students a warning about: 1) do not share your password with anyone, 2) use only the internet
explorer site for your research, 3) if you are taken to an inappropriate site, tell the teacher immediately, 4) only research your
reptile, 5) dont leave your computer log on and unattended, 6) ensure you have log off your computer at the end of the lesson.

Resources: Whiteboard, classroom computer, projector, eraser.

Introduction: (10min)
Introduce myself and set the expectations for behaviour management. No spinning on chairs, keep your eyes on your own
computer, no talking as this is an individual assessment.
Introduce todays lesson and what the students will be doing as per the aim of the lesson.
Seek clarification of through questioning if they students understand (Check for understanding) what they will be learning
today.
Ask students questions about opening a PowerPoint, where they must save it to and what information needs to be on the
second slide?
Advise students this is the start of the task, so there will be no talking as it is an individual assignment. Talking will see they
dont pass this task.

Body: (38min)

Teacher will get the students to log on to their computers using their user name and password.
Once everyone has logged on.
Teacher recap last weeks lesson on creating a PowerPoint, saving a PowerPoint to their student folder.
Advise the students they can commence their task with finishing off slide two, before commencing slide three.
Teacher will observe those students who have not remembered the task and those who have not.
Students will put their hand up if you cannot remember what you need to do.
Teacher walk around the room looking at the students work.

Conclusion: (7mins)
Ensure their work is saved, log off the computer.
Advise students as to where they should be at by the end of the lesson.
Advise students are to finish off their work ready for submission. If they have finished their work, they can practice by making
another PowerPoint on a different reptile.

Assessment: Nil. Observations will be made regarding the students ability to perform each step of the lesson
