these are paintings with text


or texts with painting
the texts are derived by choice
from a lecture written by lew welch
an american poet
written in 1970
entitled language is speech
the title each one is one
comes from gertrude stein
they are intended as
musical scores to be realised
by a dedicated and creative
person or group of people
the texts are overlaid in order to
create a sublime situation
there are no instructions
the possibilities are endless
a realisation could be vast and complex
or small and simple, etc
any instruments or media
can be used
the paintings are created by stones
with gouache
the texts are printed with ink
in 1978 john cage commented that
he had become interested in writing
difficult music because of the
world situation which often seems so hopeless
in a sense these graphic score are like koans
