Angles and Straight lines

To find the angles related to intersecting lines

To find the angles related to parallel lines and transversals

Activities using GSP:

1. Construct 2 intersecting straight lines AB and CD and mark the point

of intersection as O. (refer to GSP :Angles of intersection line )
(a) Mark and write down the angles that are equal and state their
relationship.
(b) Complementary Angle are angles which add up to 90 degrees
(c) Supplementary angles are angles which add up to180 degrees.
(d) angles on a straight line are 180.

(e) A straight line joining two points is called a segment.

An angle less than 90 is called acute angle.

An angle between 90 and 180 is called obtuse angle.
An angle of 90 is called right angle.
An angle greater than 180 is called reflex angle.

2. Construct two parallel lines AB and CD. Construct a straight line PQ

cutting through AB and CD. PQ is called a transversal. (refer to GSP :
Angles of parallel lines transversal)

(a) Mark and write down the angles that are equal and state their
relationship.
(b) Name the supplementary angles. Straight Angle
(c) Lines which never meet and are always the same distance
apart are parallel line.
