The FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Keep in mind that it
is FREE. If you happen to go to another website that claims to be the FAFSA
website, but asks you to pay for the application then you are on the wrong
website!

This application is the starting point for virtually all other financial aid processes. By
completing the FAFSA and supplying any other required documents to the financial
aid office, you are considered for federal grant and loan programs.

1. What is the FAFSA? What financial assistance does the FAFSA

offer?

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA is a
form that can be prepared annually by current and prospective college
students. In the U.S. it gives student financial aid to students who are
eligible for it. The FAFSA also gives the Board of Governors Fee Waiver. It
also gives students Cal Grants. FAFSA helps students pay for classes,
supplies, and books for class.

2. What is the Cal Grant? How might you qualify for the Cal Grant?

A Cal Grant is a financial aid program administrated by the California

Student Aid Commission. There are seven different Cal Grants available for
each student who qualifies for them. Cal Grant A is for recent high school
graduates and can be used for tuition and fees at public and private
colleges and universities. Cal Grant B provides first year and low income
students an allowance of up to $1,670 for educational related books and
living expenses. Cal Grant C helps pay for tuition and training costs for
occupational, technical, or vocational programs.

There is also financial aid given to students in their last two years of
college education. In addition to the previous Cal Grants, there is also a
Cal Grant A or B Entitlement Award as well as Cal Grant A or B Competitive
Awards. Students can qualify if theyre California undergraduates,
vocational training students, and those in teacher certification programs.

3. What is the Board of Governors Fee Waiver? How do you qualify

for the Fee Waiver? How do you apply for it?

The Board of Governors permits enrollment fees to be waived for

California residents in California Community Colleges. Students can qualify
if they are attending a California community college and have financial aid
or applied to FAFSA for financial aid. Students can apply for a (BOG) fee
waiver by completing the 2016-2017 application. After completion
students should mail or deliver their applications to their community
colleges financial aid office.

4. Describe your findings from the private scholarship search. Do

you plan on applying to any of the scholarships available? Why/why not?

I do not plan on applying for any of the scholarships because none of them
interest me. They dont interest me because the scholarships do not offer
anything about graphic design or video games. I plan to pay for tuition
through the use of financial aid such as paying for supplies that I need and
paying for my classes so that I can study for free. Another method I could

use to get free classes is applying for loans, work-study funds, working at a
job, or family.
