Factors Responsible for Rise of Trump (right wing politics) in the US

Elise Jordan writes in the TIME magazine that one of the most important factors in rise of Trump
is the systemic problem of the American history of lending out loans and supplying weapons to
allies. The general public is deeply frustrated at not being responded to their socio-economic and
security concerns. This disillusionment has led voters to elect Trump.1

Alex Nowrasteh on the other hand dismisses the above arguments as being the age-old
grievances. He instead writes about three yet-unexplored factors responsible for Trumps rise. He
as an entrepreneur found a new market of politics based on his flamboyant style. Second, due to
shift of the Republican Partys new power base in the south, it was ripe for massive populism
which Trump sought. Last but not the least, Trump has exploited the populism against
immigrants, especially Muslims.2

Thomas Greven puts the blame of rise of right-wing populism in Europe and the United States
on both the political parties of the USDemocrats and the Republican. He suggests that the
policies of both these parties have made the masses highly disaffected. To them, Trump holds the
easy solutions to complex problems [unrealistic though, appealing to American public] through
impressive rhetoric and show of money.3

Critical Analysis:

In the contemporary affairs of the world, it can easily be observed a general rise of right-wing
popular politics in the world. Take the examples from rise of Modi in India to rise of Marie Le
Pen in France to increasing protests in various countries against immigrants in general and
persecution of Muslims in particular. That is to say, nationalistic politics has gained a high
momentum in these days. Reasons for this can be traced to, among other things like economic
deprivation to social insecurity, the terrible terrorist attacks across globe upon general masses. In
the United States as well we witnessed many a racist crisis and anti-Muslim violence when the
blacks were targeted and Muslim women were attacked because of their veiled dress,
respectively. Moreover, increasing economic insecurity in terms of fewer jobs, inflation and
rising costs of living have also led to the rise of Trump. It is so because Trump leads campaign
on the agenda of reversing the policies the different American governments since decades have
been pursuing. The US has been lending loans to other countries through borrowing money from

somewhere else or through taxes; its overstretch policies of keeping its armies at borders of allies
(their cost paid from American citizens taxes); Its supplies of weaponry to its allies that a large
section of American public thinks go in the hands of terrorists groups like the ISIS. Hence, the
American public voices its concerns through supporting Trump that their socio-economic and
security needs are not being met by the US government. To them, Trump holds the key to their
solutions.
