specialprocurementtypesthatexistintheR/3System.The
BusinessorCompanycreatesapurchaseorderonthevendor
widelyknownasasubcontractor.Thispurchaseorderisdifferent
fromallothertypesofpurchaseorders.Hereweneedtoorderthe
endproductorfinalproduct,whichisbeing
manufactured/assembledofothercomponents.Thesecomponents
whicharerequiredtomanufacturetheendproductarealsolisted
inthepurchaseorder

StepsforSubcontracting

1.Defineallthematerialsinyourplant(subcontractingand
packagingetc).

2.InthematerialmasterMRP4viewthereisonefieldinwhichyou
canmentionthatthismaterialisnotrelevanttoMRPplanning,use
thisfieldforsubcontractingmaterialsothatitwillnotbeplannedin
MRPruns(generallyusethisfieldforreorderpointplanning).

3.IntheBOMforthesubcontractingmaterialputthespecial
procurementkeyasSubcontractinganddonotkeeprelevancefor
costing.

4.Ifyou'reusingpackagingmaterialofyourcompanyandwantto
capturethecostofthesematerialsinthesubcontractingproduction
orderthenputrelevanceforcost.ToDefineSubcontractingCost
Center:Gotoca02doubleclickoperationnumber.Itisatthe
sectioncallExternalProcessing.(Subcontractingwillbetick).

5.DefinealternateBOMsforeachcustomer.

6.Generallytheroutingwillbethesamebutmaterialswillchange,
definedifferentprodcutionversionsforeachalternateBOMand
assigntotherouting.

7.Definetheactivitetypesforpackingandmixinginthework
centerandassignthemtothecostcenter,usetheseforyour
routing.

8.Wheneveryoureciveasubcontractingorder,usetherelevant
productionversiondependingonthecustomer.

Therearetowtypesofsubcontractingprocesscanbemappedin
SAP

1.Productionsubcontracting,

YoucanassignasubdcontractingprocessintheRoutingwiththe
controlkey(PP02),thenonceyoureleasetheordersystemwill
createaPRforsubcontracting,thenyoucanconvertittoPO.THIS
ISONLYTOCAPTURETHECOST.Nomateiralmovementsis
possible(likeissuingthematerialtosubcontractorandGRfrom
Subcontractor).
