HAPPENED!
DID IT?
How did it all began?
Introduction:
Sir Isaac Newton had a friend who was an atheist. The friend did not believe in God, but
preferred to take the position that the universe just happened. One day the friend was visiting his
learned colleague and Newton showed him a model of the solar system. The sun, the planets, and the
moons were all in place. The sizes of the spheres were in proportion and the planets and the satellites
revolved around the sun at their relative speeds. The friends admired the model. It's intriguing, he
said, who made it?
Nobody, said Newton, It just happened. i
An atheist was walking through the woods, admiring all the accidents that evolution had
created. What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals! he said to himself. As
he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. Turning to look, he
saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charging towards him. He ran away as fast as he could up the path. He
looked over his shoulder and saw the grizzly was closing. Somehow he ran even faster, so scared that
tears came to his eyes. He looked again, and the bear was even closer. His heart was pounding, and he
tried to run faster. He tripped and fell to the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but the bear
was right over him, reaching for him with its left paw and raising its right paw to strike him.
At that instant the atheist cried, Oh God help! Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was
silent. Even the river stopped moving. As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the
sky, You deny My existence for all these years, teach others that I don't exist, and even credit creation
to a cosmic accident. Do you expect Me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a
believer?
The atheist looked directly into the light and said, I would feel like a hypocrite to become a
Christian after all these years, but perhaps you could make the bear a Christian?
Very well, said the voice.
The light went out. The river ran. The sounds of the forest resumed. Then the bear dropped his
right paw, brought both paws together, bowed its head, and spoke: Lord, for this food which I am
about to receive, I am truly thankful.ii
How is it possible for something to come from nothing?
Sadly this is the reality of many people in this world. There is no evidence for evolution.
Body:
Why evolution is wrong?
o Incident of Sir Issac Newton with his friend.
Sir Isaac Newton had a friend who was an atheist. The friend did not believe in
God, but preferred to take the position that the universe just happened. One day
the friend was visiting his learned colleague and Newton showed him a model of
the solar system. The sun, the planets, and the moons were all in place. The sizes
of the spheres were in proportion and the planets and the satellites revolved
around the sun at their relative speeds. The friends admired the model. It's
intriguing, he said, Who made it? Nobody, said Newton, It just happened. iii
Why many contemporary scientists believe in Evolution?
o The position of many scientist today is this
Dr. George Wald (co Nobel Prize winner in Biology and professor of Biology at
Harvard) said: There are only two possibilities as to how life arose; one is
spontaneous generation arising to evolution, the other is a supernatural creative
act of God, there is no third possibility. Spontaneous generation, that life arose
from non-living matter, was scientifically disproved 120 years ago by Louis
Pasteur and others. That leaves us with only one possible conclusionthat life
arose as a creative act of God. I will not accept that philosophically because I do
not want to believe in God, therefore I choose to believe in that which I know is
scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution.
o Darwins theory was based on hypothesis.
Perhaps the most remarkable movement in philosophic thought that has
occurred in any age was the rise and general acceptance by scientific circles of
the evolutionary theory as propounded by Darwin, Huxley and Spencer. It was
remarkable that men of science, whose peculiar boast it is that they deal only
with established facts, should have so readily departed from this rule and
accepted a system based upon hypothesis only, and which was, and is still after
the lapse of forty years, without a single known fact to support it. Even when
allowance is made for the well-known eagerness of many scientists to do away
with all dualism, which was Mr. Darwins aim, it was still remarkable that
men of trained intellect should have so promptly accepted at face value
his two principal works, in which the expression, We may well suppose,
occurs over eight hundred times, as a basis for the argument.iv
If evolution is wrong, then how did the world, life, and everything came into existence?
o Genesis 1: 1 the very first verse of the Bible starts saying in the beginning God
created. The first doctrine of the Bible is the existence of God which many in the world
deny.
o Psalms 33: 6, 9 Gods word has the creating power.
o Jeremiah 10: 12 The earth was made by his power.
o Isaiah 40: 26 God has created all these things.
o There are many other verses in the Bible that explains this idea that God created the
heavens and the earth.
o To look at the window . . . as I did that first day . . . to look out at this kind of creation
and not believe in God is to me impossible. John Glenn, speaking about his view of
the Earth from the space shuttle Discovery.v
The EYE fact
o Charles Darwin acknowledged . To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable
contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different
amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could
have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest
possible degree.vi Though he tried to explain the evolution of eye, scientists and
scholars has stated that it is insubstantial.
The use of common Sense
o Fact #1 Books write themselves without the need of an author.
o Fact #2 Cars build themselves without the need of a manufacturer.
o Fact #3 Music composes itself into beautiful harmonies without the need of a composer.
o Now, any kindergarten student could testify to the fact that the above three statements
have as much truth to them as the flat-earth theory. However, there are countless
university lecturers and professors that are paid big dollars to promote fact #4, The
whole universe came into being through a process of random chance and beneficial
mutations, without any need of a Designer. Evidently, fact #4 is on the same level as all
the previously mentioned facts. The true fact of the matter is that evolution is just a
big fairy tale for grownups!
Many suppose that God has created and has disengaged from it. But the actually fact is life
doesnt exist without God. God is the preserver of the world still!
o Nehemiah 9: 6 God has created the heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host,
the earth, and all things and he also PRESERVES all things!
o 2 Peter 3: 5 7 the same Word of God through which the heavens and earth, has
stored this world till judgment.
o Colossians 1: 17 By Him (Jesus) all things consist.
o Hebrews 1: 3 God upholds everything through his word.
o God not only created the earth but is still preserves it. How?
o Psalms 148: 5, 6 God has set law or limits which cannot broken. Really? The laws of
nature were not founded by men. God made them. For example, The law of biogenesis.
Last night we saw that Godhead has three person. Who among the three created the world?
o All three involved in creation. Notice vs. 26. God said let US make man in OUR image,
after OUR likeness. It is written in plural word not in singular word. So, all the three
persons of Godhead were present in creation.
o Direct reference is made to Jesus (John 1: 1 3) and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1: 2; Job 33:
4).
The Creation Account Genesis 1 & 2
o Genesis 1: 1 5 In the first day, God created the light.
o Genesis 1: 6 8 In the second day, God created the firmament.
o Genesis 1: 9 13 In the third day, God created seas, land, and vegetation.
o Genesis 1: 14 19 In the fourth day, God created the heavenly bodies.
o Genesis 1: 20 23 In the fifth day, God created lives on sky and sea.
o Genesis 1: 24 31 In the sixth day, God created the land animals and then he created
man.
o Genesis 2: 1 3 In the seventh day, God rested. Not only did he rest, he also sanctified
it.
o Genesis 2: 7 God formed man of the dust of the ground, and God breathed into mans
nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.
o Genesis 2: 8 15 Gods planted Eden.
o Genesis 2: 18 25 Exclusive account of creation of Women.
o Thus God created man and women and all earth. Man was not just another creation of
God, but man was the crowning act of God.
Mans specialty
o Mans creation happens as the most important event of the sixth day of the creation.
Evidently, God intended all that he had done prior to mans creation to be preliminary
preparation to the creation of man.
o It is man only who is labelled as having been created in the image of God.
o Man is illustrious from the animals in a very special way in Genesis 2. Not only was
man made their ruler but also into mans nostrils alone does God breathe.
o The creation of man has special thoughtfulness in Genesis 2: 5 25. The authors space
to explain soundly authorizes it.
o Man is granted dominion over Gods creation as Gods vicegerent.
Now, why did God create man with so much of tender care and love? What is the purpose of
God in creating man?
o Revelation 4: 11 Man was created for Gods pleasure. So, man was just Gods pleasure
toy? Many people hold this view though this is not wrong in itself, but is it really what
man is made for?
o Isaiah 43: 10 We were made to witnesses of God.
o In the light of the study of first war which we studied, God is facing a problem, a
problem about his character. Satan claimed that Gods laws are unjust and are not
needed. It cannot be kept. Now, God has to face this dilemma. God has to disprove Satan
and his accusation. How is God going to answer this? Man was Gods answer to this
question. Man was to be the witness of God.

How was man to be a witness for God in this battle?
