Classroom Rules and Consequences

Rules:
1) Be prepared for class and in your seat when the bell rings.

2) Respect your classmates and teachers at all time.

3) Raise your hand.

4) Be efficient every minute during class.

5) Do your best.

Consequences of not following these rules:

1) First Offense: verbal warning

2) Second Offense: student-teacher conference

3) Third Offense: detention and parent notification

4) Fourth Offense: student-teacher-principal conference

5) Fifth Offense: removal from class

I believe that the consequences I have placed for misbehavior and knowingly disobeying my classroom

rules follow a fair and appropriate process of severity. These consequences are designed to be a guide. I

acknowledge that every discipline situations varies, and the consequences will be pursued to the fullest

extent. Students will be aware of my rules and consequences the first day of class.

A seating chart will be established by the teacher on the first day of school to prevent

discipline/participation problems before they occur.

Classroom rules, procedures, and expectations will be discussed and posted in a visible

location in the classroom on the first day of school.

Lessons will be designed to be thorough, precise, to enhance the learning of the students, and

to avoid boredom by utilizing different learning methods, activities, and materials.

The entire classroom time will be used efficiently. The class shall start and finish at the

discretion of the teacher.

All the assignments, projects, and homework will be designed to reflect the objectives of the

course.

Evaluations will occur to ensure the objects are being covered and individual needs are found.

Expectations of the teacher:

Come fully prepared for the lesson.

Show enthusiasm towards the subject matter.

Create a classroom environment that stimulates learning opportunities.

Will be available for students both in and out of the classroom.

Respect all needs of students and individuality to ensure optimal learning is taking place.
Expectations of the student:

Come fully prepared to every class.

Respect other classmates and the teacher.

Demonstrate responsible behavior for both social and educational situations.

Abide by the rules found in the classroom and the student handbook. If students decide to

knowingly disobey the set rules, students will take responsibility for their behavior and accept

appropriate consequences.

Participate actively in all classroom activities.

Put forth their best effort

Procedures:

When the bell rings, all students will be in their assigned seats with all their required materials.

The schools policy for tardies will be followed.

All students will be expected to stay in their assigned seats during class period. Sharpening

pencils, using the restroom, getting materials, etc. are actions that may be done during activity

transitions or with permission.

Students will be responsible for getting any missed assignments due to excused absences.

Students will have the amount of days they were absent to complete and turn in all missed

assignments, including tests/quizzes.

Students will remain seated and working on their assignments until they are dismissed by the

teacher only. .
In order for efficient and cooperative learning, I will assign students to groups for any major

projects or activities. Group evaluations will be completed by each member of the group at the

conclusion of the project which will allow students a chance to comment on the work done by

each group member.

Homework assignments are to be turned into the appropriate bin at the beginning of the class.

While working independently at their assigned seat, there should be a minimal talking among

students.

Students can receive assistance by raising their hand at anytime during seat work.

During a lecture, students are expected to pay attention and not be working on homework of

any sort during this time.

Minor Disruptions:

To deal with minor disruptions in my classroom such as talking during an inappropriate

time, passing notes, or failing to pay attention, I will give the students non-verbal cues. For

example, I will give the student a look or moving within their area. If the disruption continues, I

will use verbal cues, such as, ask the student to repeat the instructions, explain their opinion on

the topic, or ask the student to quiet down.


On-going Discipline Issues:

When a student is continuously disrupting the classroom and the learning of other

students, he/she will be confronted and dealt with in accordance to the consequences that have

been in placed. If the disruption continues, I will move the student to a new desk, trying a

change of environment as a corrective action. After this step, if the disruption continues, I will

set up a conference with the parents and student to effectively create a discipline plan signed by

all active members that would improve the students behavior.

Aggressive and Violent Behaviors:

If any aggressive or violent behaviors is witnessed, immediate office refer all is

designated as the appropriate consequence. The principal shall determine any consequences,

in accordance to the student handbook. Please note aggressive and/or violent behavior may

result in suspension or expulsion.
