Declaration of No Homework

Preamble

As one of the students of John F. Hodge, The teachers should know what they

are doing to their students. Piles and piles of work build up, and one thing leads to

another, and you are behind. Students often get bad grades from work piling up from

several classes. I declare we have reduced amounts of work. For far too long students

have failed assignments from having too much work from all their classes. For far too

long they lose sleep from staying up and doing work that they may never need. So I feel

it necessary that students should be equal to the rest of the world, and to write a

declaration of less work.

Beliefs:

We hold these truths to be ridiculous and standards are set too high. Students

are being troubled throughout their high school career. If any one person does simple

math, they would know that if all of a student's classes assign homework for the

evening, that is hours of work for students to take out of their day in order to do

something they should be doing in school. Assignments should be done in class, not at

home. Especially for students that must work, or feel the need to do sports, this takes

even more time out of their day.

Greivences:

Until this day I have held my tounge by no longer can this outrage hold back! It

has been proven through many studies that students need a certain amount of sleep in

order for there brain to develop correctly when they are older. Teachers have failed to

recognize or care that students have this need.

Students are losing sleep on things that should be done in school.

Students get in trouble for not turning in all there work on time, when they dont

have enough time.

Students do not have enough time to do the other things that are important to

them.

Students should have all of their academic work assigned in class so they have a

teacher to help them.

Attempts to Address:

Often times when we students try to explain what had happened the night before,

not having enough time, or not understanding it, or whatever the case may be, teachers

brush it off and reduce our score, even if the assignment was 100% correct. Other times

we try to ask for extra days to do our work, sometimes this process works, other times

we are spited.

Final Declaration:
Thomas3

We, therefore bring these issues to the board of John F. Hodge High School and

we do believe that learning subjects should be left in the classroom, not in our homes.

This must end, to many students are penalized for things that they can not help, and the

majority of teachers condon these issues. As a student of this High School, I am willing

to pledge my legitimacy at the school and even my life if that is what it takes for a

student to get the proper education!
