Rizal: The Movie (Guide Questions)

1. What part or scene of the movie that struck you most? Explain brieftly.
The part that struck me most is the part where Rizal spoke his last words

which is Consummatum Est! which means It is Finished because it is a

little similar to the death of Jesus Christ which touched me.

2. Enumerate five (5) conversational statements in the movie and

elaborate or expound its significance to your life as students.


Rizal speaks with his fellow students about Philippine independence. The

Spanish students call them monkeys and fight breaks out. In our life as

students, we should not let other people underestimate us.


Open your eyes to the injustices in the Philippines
The Spanish teacher has a Spanish student and a Philippine student stand

before the class next to each other. He notes the height difference

between the superior Spanish and the inferior Philippine. Rizal rises to say

that if height is of so much importance then why are so many of Spains

colonies gaining their independence from Spain.


One only dies once, and if one does not die well, a good opportunity is lost

and will not present itself again.


On the battlefield man has no better weapon than his intelligence, no other

force but his heart.


3. Give at least five (5) traits or qualities of Rizal shown which

tremendously enhance the Filipino values. Describe each traits

reflected in the movie.


Keen Observant Rizal was a Keen Observer of people and place. He spent

his leisure moments touring the countryside observing everything. He made

sketches of the thing he saw.


Friendly Rizal made many friends every time he travels and wherever he

goes.
Self-Disciplined Rizal always practiced self-discipline. When he was in

binan, waking up at 4oclock to hear a mass if there was any is a part of his

daily life, otherwise he study his lessons at that our and went mass

afterwards.
Health Conscious one example of this is when he tried to heal his

mothers eyes.
Brave Risking his life to save our country is always a brave thing to do.

4. In the movie, how did Rizal manifest heroism or martyrdom? Explain

and justify your answer.


Rizal always thought of his native land, worked for it, cared for it, always

returned for it, and even die for it. Rizals love for our country meant

knowing and cherishing who he was, where he came from, and what he

could offer to our land. He performed them all with his mind, heart, and

spirit.
