Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to my fellow friends, teachers and

judges. Today, on this fine morning, I would like to present to you a public speech
about Music.

Music. We hear it every day. No matter where we are, music will always be
played either on the radio or just by humming a tune. Did you know that music
started as early as the Paleolithic era? So music is about 200 000 years old. Wow!
Its so old. Still people enjoy listening to this old art for nearly 200 millenniums.

Music is an art which uses sound as its main medium. The word music
originated from a Greek word mousike (musikis), which means art of the Muses
(Muses). The Muses are the Goddesses of Greek who loves art and literature.

The elements needed to produce music are pitch, rhythm and dynamics. The
pitch is the combination of melody and harmony. Rhythm is the beat of the music.
Dynamics are the volume. At first the song starts soft then it gradually starts to get
loud. Suddenly theres an accent and everything settles down and dies away.

An object needs to be vibrated in order to produce sound. Lets take a guitar for
example. We pluck the strings in order to vibrate them. The sound waves then enter
the hollow wood and echoes in order to make the sound louder. How about a
woodwind and a brass instrument? Ah, but theres a catch. These two instruments
are the same but they are not alike. Both instruments need puff power. But a
woodwind instrument uses holes to indicate different notes whilst the brass family
uses valves.

Some standard orchestral instrumental families are the strings family, as in

pianos, guitars, violins and so on. Next, the woodwind family. For example, flutes,
recorders, bassoons and others. Lastly, the brass family. The family consists of
trumpets, French horns, tubas and others. Sometimes, people use imaginary
instruments like the air guitar. They are just basically strumming like a guitar but
without a guitar. Still the song is playing in their heads.

The music genre is generally endless. It ranges from Acapella to Fusion jazz,
Gaana to Muzak also known as the music you here in elevators, Nagauta, a kind of
Japanese style of music, to Rumba, Sabar to Zydeco. Sabar is not the Malay word for
relax. It is a drumming style found in Senegal. Have you heard? Theres another
genre coming! Revolution Pop is created by Usher Raymond. Oh, you know! Hes
Justin Biebers mentor. The most popular genres that we hear nowadays are pop,
dominated by the late King of Pop, Micheal Jackson. Rock, conquered by Elvis
Presley. Punk, played by bands like Green Day and Paramore. Country written by
Taylor Swift and a few others. But the only thing I cant deny is that the most
popular genre right now is K-pop or Korean Pop. Boy bands like Super Junior and girl
groups such as 2NE1 are examples of artists who gets involve in K-pop. Boys and
girls are going nuts over the artists.

Through music and the lyrics, a massage could be passed through. Moral
values could also be found in them. Some song lyrics contain impolite words which
should be avoided as it could contaminate the thought. Motivating songs could
boost and motivate anyone who listens to it.

Composers are people whose job is to make music. Music could come out as
complex as it sounds or even as easy as just making up a tune by humming. It may
sound difficult but if you have the will to learn and create music, then it wont be
that difficult. An example of a classical composer that we always hear but seldom
know is Ludwig van Beethoven who wrote the song entitled Fr Elise. At the age of
26, Ludwig van Beethoven started to lose his sense of hearing. He gradually
became deaf but that did not stop him from creating more fantastic music. Dont
know whos Beethoven? How about we take someone local. Edry Abdul Halim. One
of the members of a boy band with the name KRU. He has created music for many
Akademi Fantasia candidates and many are a hit!

Music is written theoretically and made real practically. It lives in every one
of us. Music is like an international language. Even though we do not understand the
lyrics but we understand the melody. The rhythm. The harmony. Everything starts
small. In music, it starts with a note. Then, a tune. After that, a rhythm and a
melody. Finally, a harmonious song that unites everyone disregarding the race or
the background or whatever at all was born. Music unites the souls of Malaysia and
the world. Guess what! We enjoy it!

Thank you and Assalamualaikum.

FRIENDSHIP

Good morning to the honorable judges , teachers and my fellow friends .I am

standing here to deliver a speech about FRIENDSHIP and THE IMPORTANT ROLE

THAT IT PLAYSIN OUR LIVES. Firstly, let me ask all of you , WHAT ISFRIENDSHIP? .

well ,friendship consists of true friends that can make you laugh when skies are the

darkest , true friends that will even hurt you only if its for your own good , friends

that will protect you under any circumstances and friends that will make you feel

like you are on the top of the world when you are feeling crushed to the ground. My

fellow audiences, Have you ever noticed that when a friend is happy you find

yourself happy too, even when it has nothing to do with you? A true friend is like a

mirror .Do you know why ? its because they reflect yourself .When I say that, I mean

by emotionally ,spiritually and many more. When youre happy ,theyre happy and

when youre sad , theyre feeling pretty much the same way youre feeling too.

People today , in this new era of technology and moderncy have lost sight of what a

true friendship is. Friends do not have to be exactly the same, I mean, come on,

friends do have similarities but they also have their differences. The key to opening

up the world of friendship is not just to focus on the similarities but to accept each

others faults because true friends do not judge each other. Friends love

unconditionally. They do have their little angry moments from time to time but at

the end of the day all is forgiven and forgotten. As quoted by Oscar Wilde, "Anybody
can sympathize with the sufferings of a friend but it requires a very fine nature to

sympathize with friends success. True friends are very rare to find but once youve

found them, dont let them go because not everyone has true friends even if theyre

popular and famous. I hope all of you as my audience get the true meaning of

friends because its wonderful to be with such amazing friends. Thank you.

A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers, parents and my fellow

friends. Today, on this fine day, I would like to present a public speech about the

advantages and disadvantages of bringing handphone to school. It is an issue where

it could be implemented soon. Before it takes place, let's look the pros and cons of

this matter.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Handphones, mobile phones, and tablets are becoming common in almost

everywhere in our society, even now, small children have it too. Today, It has

become a must have item to everyone. Even now, if I ask the audience, whether

they have a handphone, probably almost all will say yes, isn't?

But then, is it a good idea to allow students to bring handphone to school? In every

story, there are two sides of contracting ideas; therefore, I would like to take this

opportunity, to let the audiences know the advantages and disadvantages of

allowing students to bring handphone to school.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me start my speech by stating the first advantages of student bring phone to

school that is, to make communication easier, especially between parents and their

children. It will allow them to communicate with each other at any time. With

handphone, parents can check up on their kids and arrange transportation or relay

important information if necessary at any time they want. Like for example, the

children can tell their parents what are their activities and thus make the parents

less worry about their children whereabouts.

Secondly handphones can be an invaluable tool in emergency situations. For

instance, if a student is severely injured or there is a crisis situation, the phones can

allow students to contact authorities or anyone for help.

Thirdly, with the technology available, it can help the students to learn more. More

easy access to internet, students can search information on the internet easily. But

it could also be the other way around. Students use the internet to find fun instead

of studying.

Now, I will focus on the disadvantages of student bring phone to school. Firstly is

about theft issue. With more and more attractive phones available, there are good

chances of phone being snatch or theft. This happen because some pupils might not

be able to afford it, thus, the only way for them to have it, is by stealing it. Students

also can make extra money too by stealing the handphone and sell it.

Moreover, students can at times be clumsy when keeping their things. We all know

that once the item is gone, it will be gone forever. The price of handphone is not

cheap, and when the theft issues arise, it can cause a lot of other trouble.
Secondly, the phone may cause distraction in lessons. Some students that did not

shut off their phone and suddenly get a phone call, will disturb the lesson in the

class. They can also play games in hiding during the lesson.

By bringing handphone to school also will hinder pupils to study more as they are

much more prefer to play games than to read book. They only used the privilege

given for their own joy only. Thus, the passion for learning for many students will be

decreasing and this is bad because study is important in life.

Ladies and Gentleman,

I have line out the pros and cons of allowing students to bring handphone to school.

Now, it is up to us to decide and choose what the best decision on this issue is. Well

then, I arrived at the end of my speech, and thus I would like to thank all for lending

your ears. Therefore, I end my speech with thank you very much and good bye.

Thank

A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers, and my fellow friend. I am

standing here to deliver my words about Pollution. Please lend me your ears

friends. As we know, pollution is one of the biggest environmental problems but still

many people do not take pollution problem seriously as they should be.

Environmental pollution comes in various forms, such as: air pollution and water

pollution. Many people still think that we can dump our garbage all over the planet

without any consequences which is not true. Since the start of industrial revolution

we have been continuously heavily polluting our planet, caring only for economic

development, and not caring at all for the health of environment we live in. Such

lack of ecological conscience has caused severe pollution across the whole planet.

Levels of air, sea, and water pollution are extremely high, and are constantly
growing because industry isnt letting go. The main sources of pollution are

definitely industry and vehicles. Heavy industries based on fossil fuels are especially

dangerous for our environment. If we take a look at China and India for instance we

can see that rapid economic development actually has rather high environmental

price. Heavy pollution not only makes our environment ugly but is also the source of

many respiratory and waterborne diseases across the south-east Asia that is taking

many human lives year after year. As Homo sapiens, we have the responsibility

to prevent the pollution. Everyone is a stakeholder as we are all inhabitants of this

one and only mother earth. Each person has something to contribute to advance

effective pollution prevention awareness initiatives. Environmental protection is

caring for ourselves, loving our children and ensuring a sustainable future for

generations to come. You and I should therefore accept personal responsibility for

the success of the environmental protection programs of our respective community

by cooperating and actively participating in making the atmosphere pollution free.

Everyone can help by self-education and by adopting good and healthy practices. It

is also important that we help raise awareness about the significance of

environmental issues, their dire consequences and what can be done.

Consequently, let us think about this phrase If there are no pollutants, there will be

no pollution With that, I thank you

A very good morning to the honorable judges, teachers and my fellow friends. My

name and I am standing here today to deliver a speech entitled How

To Lead A Healthy Life.

What is healthy living? According to Webster Dictionary, healthy living is living a life

without having to worry about diseases and body size. To obtain healthy living is not

easy. We have to work hard to get it. There are several ways one can lead a healthy
life. Among the ways are having a proper diet, having enough sleep, having enough

exercise and also a proper time management.

So before I go on, let us see the ways to get a proper diet. Our diet should follow the

food pyramid. We should eat sufficient carbohydrates such as rice, bread and

noodles. We must eat plenty of vitamins such as fruits and vegetables. We should

also eat proteins such as fish, meat and chicken, but in moderation. We shouldnt

eat fatty and greasy foods such as junk food, butter and margarine. If we follow this

diet effectively, we will get a lot of good and rewarding benefits.

Another way that we should practice is eating at the right time. How many of us

have breakfast in the morning? Not many, right as we are all too busy trying to

make it to school on time? This is wrong because breakfast gives us energy to start

a fresh day. If we do not have breakfast in the morning, we will feel very tired and

sleepy. In fact, some cultures advocate breakfast as the most important meal of the

day. Without a proper breakfast, our concentration span will also reduce, thus

making us unable to comprehend what is taught in class.

We should get enough sleep every day. I am not hinting to my friends to take forty

winks when they are in class. An average child needs at least 8 hours of sleep. For

example, if we wake up at 6am, we should sleep at 10pm every night. What will

happen if we do not get enough sleep? Well, for sure we will feel very sleepy and

unable to comprehend what is taught in class, thus making us to lose out.

We must get enough exercise time every day. How many of us exercise every day? I

am afraid to admit that I am also one of the guilty ones who fall in this category. We

should exercise because when we sweat, the fats in our bodies will break. If we do

not exercise, we will become obese and this may lead to various lifestyle diseases
such as heart attack and diabetes. Our exercise routine should consist of a variety

of activities such as running, games like football and basketball and also physical

exercise such as tennis and swimming so that we dont get bored with the same

activities. Make sure you exercise and dont say I have exercised! when you

actually havent. Lifestyle diseases are one of the easily preventable diseases which

have overtaken other communicable diseases like malaria and dengue.

We should also manage our time properly. Preparing a timetable and adhering to it

strictly is the best way we can manage our time. If we do not have a timetable, we

will feel stressed and unable to do our activities effectively because we will be

rushing to do them. Plan your activities well so that it does not clash with your daily

routine.

If you follow my suggestions to lead a healthy life, I am sure we can build a

healthier Malaysia. Thank you for lending me your ears.
