An earthworms head end is called the anterior. Its tail end is called the
posterior.
Setae are the tiny bristle like hairs on the surface of the earthworm
that help it move. Each segment has four pairs of setae.
When the earthworms circular muscles are tensed, its body becomes
long and thin, squeezing its front end forward. Then its long muscles
are contracted which brings the rear end of my body towards the front.
The crop comes after the esophagus in the digestive tract and is where
the food is stored. From there it is passed to the gizzard where it is
broken down by muscles.
Earthworms are called natures top soil scientists because they are
responsible for enriching the soil. They do this by fertilizing and turning
it.
The largest earthworm ever recorder was found in South Africa and
was 22 feet long.
