How to Infuse Patients

Preparing Equipment
1. Standard infusion.
2. Abocath
3. Sterile gauze
4. liners / tourniquet (to help find veins to be injected with an IV),
5. plaster or medical adhesive (to keep the infusion set in place after the IV
needle is injected),
6. an alcohol swab (to sterilize equipment),
7. and etiquette / label (to record installation time, type of intravenous fluids,
and patients were infused).
Stages I
1. Prepare a bag of intravenous fluids.
2. Insert the infusion set (macro or micro) into the infusion bag and hang it
on a standard infusion.
3. Remove air bubbles in the hose. Make sure the drip chamberdalam half-
filled state. After half a drip chamber filled with fluid infusion, let the
liquid drain out of the infusion bag meets the hose until it reaches the end
(this is done to remove air bubbles trapped in the hose). Close the hose
with clamps when intravenous fluids have reached the end of the hose.
4. Make sure the hose does not touch the floor because the floor is not
sterile and there are likely many bad bacteria.
Stages II
1. Perform first approach with the patient.
2. then Adjust the position of the patient and wear gloves. Ask the patient to lie
or sit on the bed or chair, whichever they prefer.
3. Find the best location to insert the cannula. Cannula has a shape like a small
tube will be inserted along with the IV needle, tetapicannula will remain in
the vein after the needle is pulled out. You should look for a vein in the
patient's hand is not dominant (hands less frequently used). Look for venous
long and dark so you can see it easily when a needle.
4. Tie hereinafter liners directly over the area to be pierced. [10] Fasten liners
such that the liners can be removed easily. When the bandages tied, veins
will stand out making it easier to see and stabbed.
5. Clean the area where the cannula is inserted. Use an alcohol swab to clean
the area to be pierced (area where the IV needle will be inserted). Use a
circular motion when cleaning the area so that the microorganisms can be
eliminated as much as possible. Allow the area to dry.
6. then Enter cannula. Hold the cannula forming an angle of 30-45 degrees to
the arm and the patient's vein. Seize cannula like when you hold the syringe
so as not to deviate when inserted into the vein. When you feel the needle
has entered into the veins (felt / sounded like the sound of "pop") and appear
dark blood in the cannula, decrease the angle of the puncture so parallel to
the skin of the patient.
Push the cannula into the vein as far as 2mm again. Then adjust the direction
and thrust needle cannula again slightly into the vein. Remove the needle
while pushing the cannula fully inserted into the vein while maintaining
everything remains in place.Dispose of needles into special containers
disposal of sharps. Finally, release liners and clean the area where the
stabbing cannuladengan hypoallergenic gauze or an alcohol swab.
7. Connect the hose connecting to the infusion cannula.
8. Finally Set the number of drops per minute. Set the number of drops
corresponding doctor's instructions.
