Programme in brief
The bachelor program HBO-ICT English stream has three
specialisations: ICT & Software Engineering, ICT & Business
and ICT & Technology. These 4-year English taught study
programs are international programs, leading to the
international Bachelor of Science degree (BSc). With
the knowledge and skills learned at Fontys University
of Applied Sciences students can work as high-level
engineers in the ICT sector. The first semester is identical
for all three bachelor programs. This gives you an
opportunity to find out what specialisation suits you best.
This first semester you will do the following basic subjects:
Programming in C#, Databases, Computer Systems,
Mathematics, Communication / Project Management.
From the second semester you can choose to continue
either in ICT & Software Engineering, ICT & Business
or ICT & Technology. Projects and internships related
to your bachelor choice will be an integrated part of
the study program.
Content of the programme
Nowadays you will find software in almost every device,
from a television to a heart-defibrillator and from a watch
to an elevator. Within our bachelor program ICT &
Technology we focus on writing software for all these
devices. We will train you to become an expert in software
development, especially in the so-called embedded

In ICT developments go very fast. New ideas and products
may continue to exist, but may also quickly become out Place
of date. In ICT the future is unpredictable. We therefore Eindhoven

future career. In your study program you decide what Language of study
specialization you want to do. Some of the choices are: English

ICT & Management and Security, ICT & Open Innovation

Overall we want you to consider your study as a serious
business that requires a study load of around 40 hours
per week.
 The Fontys way of studying
The Fontys teaching style is interactive and student-
centered. It focuses on teamwork, which makes it easy to
meet other international and Dutch students. Studying in
Holland means developing an open mind and increasing
your international orientation. A large part of all study
programmes is dedicated to writing papers and working
in groups to analyze and solve specific problems. You
will also get a chance to get practical work experience
through internships or do experiments in laboratories,
depending on the field of study.
Teamwork: Holland has received international praise for
its teaching style, which centers on students working
together as a team and on self-study and self-discipline.
The teacher will act as a facilitator and guide in the
learning process.
Interaction in class: Interaction in class is highly appreciated.
You are expected to think about the knowledge that
is presented to you and develop and express your own
opinion. You are free to ask questions and be critical
of what lecturers or fellow students say. Use your own
creativity to apply your newly-gained knowledge.
Open Days
At Fontys we organise several Open Days. On these
days you can visit the campus and see the facilities,
meet lecturers and students and attend presentations
about the study programmes. For the actual dates

Accommodation
It is not always easy for international students to find
accommodation in Holland Therefore, Fontys offers a
service to provide students with assistance in securing
suitable accommodation (i.e. a student room) for
the first period of their studies at Fontys. Although
Fontys does not have its own campus dorms, it has
established cooperation with a number of different
accommodations or housing agencies and landlords.

Why study at Fontys Eindhoven?
All Fontys Technology and Business (FTB) bachelor programs are officially accredited and quality-
based bachelor programs. Being a student in one of these programs means that you live and
study in one of the most promising, fast developing high tech region of Europe: Brainport
Region. This region has a unique environment in the Netherlands and is a breeding ground
for innovation and home to world-class business, universities and research institutes. Are
you fascinated by technology and innovation or business? Are you looking for an outstanding

FTB programs have a clear and transparent structure with about 20 lectures per educational
week. Students are placed in year groups which do not change and learning modules are
given by qualified teachers. Each student will receive support and advice from a personal
Study Counsellor.
Finance your study
The annual tuition fees for an FTB bachelor degree programme will be 2,017 for EU students
(2017/2018). The tuition fee costs for non-EU students are 6,500 (2017/2018). The average
living expenses per month for a foreign student living and studying in Holland are between 700
and 900 per month. These living expenses cover rent, insurance, food, public transportation,
books, clothing and other general costs.
Costs within the first month upon arrival will be higher than all other months due to a housing
deposit, introduction week and books. Study books are usually bought at the start of the
semester and therefore it is wise to reserve an amount at the start of the semester which can
cover the price of all study books.

Grantfinder also contains a number of scholarship programmes that are administered by

Admission requirements
As a prospective bachelor student you must have a diploma of higher secondary education that is
equivalent to Dutch standards. Some equivalent international diplomas are the senior high school
diploma GCE, British GCE-A-levels or the French Baccalaureat. Nevertheless, since every country
has its own school system, we will check your diploma once we have received it from you. In this
way we can compare it to the required Dutch standards. The required English level must be equal
to IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 550/80 or other equivalent tests. Applicants whose mother tongue is English
will be exempted from the English requirement.
