In urban areas, households using electricity represent almost
90% while 10% are still using kerosene . In rural areas,
kerosene and electricity as a primary source of energy for
lighting are split evenly. The share of households in rural areas
using electricity has increased from 37% to 50% in
approximately 10 years (1993-2000), due to the increase in
electrification over the period.
