Let me just give you some details about my
course. I was a student of Dentistry in a
college in India. BDS in India is a five year
course which comprises 4 years of studies
and 1 year of compulsory internship. The
third and fourth years are when we start
treating patients. For our final year
university examinations, we have 8
subjects for theory exams and we have to
have a patient for each one of them for the
practical exams of the same. If we do not
get a patient for our exams with specific
criteria as instructed, we would be failed in
that subject. Those 8 subjects are, well,
huge or vast. Whichever you choose. And
you have a specific quota of patients to
treat in each department. If you fail to have
them you will not be allowed to appear for
the examinations. Period. Any Dental
students reading this can very well relate to
this.
So coming back to my story, our college is
very strict about the rules and we were
running here and there during the last
minute, searching for patients to complete
our quota and finally start studying.
Oh, and a very good thing (note the
sarcasm) about our course, is that if your
teacher does not like you, you are done for.
He or she can fail you, irrespective of how
good a student you are.
So just 2 weeks were left for our theory
examinations to begin and I had not even
completed my quota of patients, let alone
start studying. And thanks to Murphys
law, when you are in extreme need of cases
to finish your quota, not a single soul turns
up in the Dental hospital.
I had read The Secret before and had had
very good experiences by following the
methods mentioned in the book. So, I
thought of giving it a try and hoped
fervently for it to work this time. So during
the 2 weeks left for our exams to begin, I
began applying the principles of The Secret
once again in my life. In the mornings, I
used to go to the college, treat patients,
come back in the evening, take a nap and
start studying till 1 in the morning and then
sleep till 6 AM. Before sleeping I used to
repeat these 3 things, so that they got
ingrained in my subconscious mind:
1. Thank you Universe for helping me
complete all my pending work well before
the exams.
2. Thank you Universe for helping me
remember all that I have studied.
3. Thank you Universe for making me the
topper of my batch.
