a. According to the article, what are 2 definitions of culture?


There is two forms of definitions, by a biologist and anthropologists. Biologist say it is
likely to be a colony of bacteria or other microorganisms growing in a nutrient medium in a
laboratory Petri dish. Anthropologist say culture is the full range of learned human
behavior patterns.

b. What are the 3 layers of culture?


1 is culture language
2 is subculture
3 is cultural universals
c. What is a subculture?
Diverse societies in which people have come from many different parts of the world, they
often retain much of their original cultural traditions

d. List the cultural universals.

1.Communicating with a verbal language consisting of a limited set of sounds and


grammatical rules for constructing sentences
2. Use age and gender to classify people (e.g., teenager, senior citizen, woman, man)

Sex, race, age, sexual orientation, religion and physical ability

b. What is one of the stereotypes youve heard of that is listed in the 1992 gender study?
Males were typically characterized as adventurous, powerful, domineering and
independent. Females, on the other hand, were characterized as sentimental, submissive
and superstitious.

The main outlet of second-hand information is the mass media, mass media in turn plays a major role
in determining the content of our culture.

Is the way in which members of a family interact with each other in relation to their individual goals
and preferences

Although my family is a unit, we are individuals and build each their up on their own beliefs and
