ABSTRACT
Aesthetics is a science which discuss about beauty, how can be formed, and how
someone can feel it. Expected in education, aesthetics can create and shape the
creative and immoral personality appropriate with beauty and art. Art has a role as
an education media one of them is as props to facilitate the learning process so
much easier to understand, especially for understanding Physics subjects. Physics
is the science discuss about nature and nature's symptoms which real until abstract
or even just a theory, this discussion involves the imagination ability or involve a
person mental picture. Students will be easier to understand the physics theory
with practice. It can be applied one of them is in the sound theory, because in this
theory, there are many things in daily life that can be included in the learning
process, such as musical instruments. In addition connect with sound, musical
instrument can also attract the attention and invite the students interest to play it.
Through sound resonance experiment, by making a simple music instrument from
the glass bottles former, students are expected to be able to understand and prove
the sound theory directly through sound resonance experiment which fun.

INTRODUCTION

Aesthetics in education is necessary, because through aesthetics are

expected can form a creative and immoral personality. Aesthetics in education can
be realized through art. Art can be used as props in education, especially in
physics, arts media is needed by teachers in teaching physics. Considering the
subjects of Physics is considered difficult or even scourge for most high school
students. With that reality, teachers of these subjects must be clever to pack the
teach method, so the learning becomes an exciting or even to be the most
interesting subjects, so that students can study and enjoy these subjects such as
they enjoy an art.
Departing from the simple philosophy that "all art it's fun, and if done with
happy then all will feel easy". And one of the things that preferred by children is
an art. Therefore, by incorporating elements of the arts into the physics world,
physics is expected to be fun for the students so physics would be felt easy for the
students. This matter one of them can be applied to the activities of physics
experiment.

In general, physics focus on the fact and it's begin from the test and
measurement, so in studying physics must be supported by laboratory or
experiment activities. Physics experiments can be packaged in a fun method with
insert the art elements in it. One of the physics experiments that can be packaged
in this method is sound resonance experiment, this experiment prove the sound
theory. One of the things connect with sound in daily life is a musical instrument.

Hearing the words of musical instruments, of course students will be

interested to play. In the sound resonance experiments, teacher can make a simple
musical instrument in accordance with the sound theory, which can be played by
children. It is expected the students were be able to understand and prove the
sound theory without just read the book, but they can do directly through fun
experiments.

METHODOLOGY

This article discuss about fun physics experiments and creative in the
sound resonance experiment, for students. This experiment is done by making a
simple musical instrument from the glass bottles former. Examples of these
experiments was obtained through the author's experience while still in senior
high school and take some references from internet that match the theme of this
article. Through the creatives experiment, students are expected to be able to
prove and apply the sound theory concept in a real and enjoyable, so they will
easier to understand the concept of sound theory in daily life.

DISCUSSION

A. Aesthetics Definition
The term of Aesthetics appeared in the 1750th by a German philosopher
named Alexander G. Baumgarten (1714-1762). The term was derived from the
ancient Greek language, 'aisthetika', which means the ability to saw through
sensing or things that can be absorbed by the senses. Therefore, aesthetics was
often interpreted as sensory perception (sense of perception). Baumgarten called it
art as sensory knowledge, which is distinguished by the logic and he called
intellectual knowledge. Aesthetic purpose is beauty, while the purpose of logic is
truth (Sumardjo, 2000: 25). For simple, aesthetic is a science which discuss about
beauty, how can be formed, and how one can feel it.

B. Aesthetics in Education

Kant in the scientific psychology study about aesthetics mentions that

brain has the third senses over thought and volition, namely the specificity senses,
which is an aesthetic pleasure. The basic relationship between aesthetics and
education is focused to the "predicate" which given to the art beauty.

According to Randall and Buchler there are three interpretations about the
art nature are, art as penetration of reality in addition to experience, art as a means
of pleasure, and art as an expression of the truth about the experience. It is
expected in the world of education, aesthetics will be able to create and shape the
personality to be creative and immoral accordance with beauty and art.

C. Art as an Education Media

Art has a role as an education media, one of them is as props to facilitate

the learning process so much easier to understand. Education through art includes
all activities on the physical and non-physical activities contained in the
expression activity, explore, create and appreciate through visual language, sound,
movement and role. (Rohidi 2000: 7). Through the art education media, children
are trained to acquire skills and experience, create and to understand, analyze, and
appreciate works of art.

In this case, the school as a place to study certainly has role major in
undertaking education, it is a major effort to create the next generation which is
expected to be an excellent generation and bring a positive change in all areas
including in the physics subjects.

D. The Importance Experiment of Physics

In general, teachers in that teach of science subjects, more emphasis on

giving information only and reluctant to carry out the learning activities using
props or laboratory activities. In senior high school, the physics learning still use
the lecture method, this method will cause the student involvement lack in
learning process. In learning process with lectures, students only receive the
concept given by teachers and never proving that concept. Teachers always
dominated the learning with the purpose to get value which according to the
standard, as well as learning targets and fulfilled deadlines. Because the learning
methods that used less interest, it can hinder the creativity of students and even
students have difficulty understanding the material so that it appears the notion
that the physics lesson is difficult.

Physics teaching methods not just need to memorize, but it is necessary to

choose a method which can encourage students to apply what is learned into daily
life. Physics learning can not only done by students with listen, look, memorize,
without experience.

One method it appropriate is a lab learning method. Physics in general

relies on the fact, Physics is started from the test and measurement, so physics
study is less successful when it is not supported by laboratory activity or
experiment activities. This method will facilitate the students to understand the
studied material, and invite students to discover and obtain the matter concept by
itself. So, students are ready to face and solve the problems it faces.

E. Physics Experiment through Musical Art: Sound Resonance

Music is the best medium to insert positive values for the student or child.
Mack (2004: 7) says that: "... music has the most powerful elements in influencing
human, so music is the most role in religious context, political and social
functions, ...", it is further strengthened by a report in The New York Times
international in 1996 indicated that in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China, the music
becomes a significant part in the children education. In this case, we will try to
incorporate art music elements into a physics experiment, in the sound resonance
experiment.

In the sound materials, a lot of things in daily life that we can put in the
learning process, one of them are musical instrument. In addition is related to
sound, musical instruments can also attract the students attention and invite the
students interest to play. The most important thing of a musical instrument is
sound.

The sound is a matter that can be reviewed and studied by physics. In

physics, it is said that the sound is actually produced by a vibrating object. Sound
vibrations that propagate called sound waves. Sound waves shape is longitudinal
waves. Told as a longitudinal wave because sound is spread, and forming density
and spans.

At the sound resonance experiments, we will make props simple sound

resonance from glass bottles former. Furthermore, these props can be a musical
instrument and can produce unique sound. The sound is meant here is the tone.
The tone is the sound that has regular frequency vibrations. There are seven tones
in the scales and each tone has its own frequency.

Do tone has frequency about 264 Hz, the Re tone has around 297 Hz
frequency, Mi tone has a frequency about 330 Hz, Fa tone has a frequency about
352 Hz, the Sol tone has a frequency about 396 Hz, La tone has a frequency about
440 Hz, and Si tone has a frequency about 495 Hz, while the Do high tone has a
frequency about 528 Hz. Thus, high or low tone depends on the generated
frequency size. The greater the frequency, so the higher tone, likewise the smaller
the frequency, the lower tone.

Almost all classical instruments (which are not played by electricity use),
has an air cavity. Turns cavity that causes a musical instrument that made has a
distinctive voice and melodious. And in physics, this cavity is known as air
resonance.
Resonance is event vibrates an object, due to the influence of vibration of
an object in other objects that are nearby. If we look at, what happened in the air
cavity owned the guitar, the guitar strings that vibrate will make the air in the
cavity also vibrate and produce that sounds more melodic. In this case we will
make props resonance from glass bottles former, glass bottles are expected can
produce unique tone that can be a musical instrument. The tools and materials
used in this instrument manufacture are as follows:

a. Wood g. Ruler elbow

b. Water h. Rope

c. Sandpaper i. Paint Wood

d. Paper j. Glass Bottles Former (8 bottles)

e. Bolt Size 3 inches k. Saw

f. hammer l. length measuring instrument

The designs of this instrument are as follow:

How it works and Working Principle Tool

Bottles former are a musical instrument played by being hit. The selected
bottles are bottles that are identical, it means having a height, volume, and
thickness are almost the same. To produce different tones, the bottle filled with
water to a certain height. The beater made of wood that was given nail at the end
wood's it is can produce a good knock compared to other materials. Tone that
selected are basic tones like Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si, and Do high. Thus, it
takes eight bottles.

Furthermore, bottles that are already regulated its tone, put in shelf made
from wood. This rack will keep the bottles remain steady in place and do not
wobble when being hit, in addition, it also serves that rack can make water in the
bottle will not spill and the bottle in equally position.

Basic tones Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si, and High Do this will be regulated
the water level in the bottle. It is intended that the air in the air column can
resonate so as to produce a tone with a certain frequency.

Picture 2. Music Instrumental Glass Bottle Former

From the pictures above, it can be seen that the air column from basic Do
tone, until high Do tone are getting longer. That means, if the air column inside
the bottle getting longer, then the frequency of the sound produced will be higher.
Vice versa, if the air columns in the bottle are shorter, the frequency of the sound
produced will be lower.

In this experiment, students are invited to understand the sound waves

characteristics (mechanical waves) that propagate through air molecules, and how
mechanical way to produce sounds with different wavelengths (and of course also
the sound frequency) that gives tones characteristic. So, students know how effect
the air column length inside the bottles, to the frequency produced. By
understanding the concept of resonance (characteristic a vibrating object by a
same frequency), then it can give understanding students about physics
engineering that can be applied in the musical instruments. So in addition to the
students understand the sound resonance concept, they also can create a simple
musical instrument.

CONCLUSION

Art media can be applied in physics teaching. It is expected that students

are able to learn physics with fun and not rigid. Art media can be applied to the
music art. Music art can be included in the experiment activities Sound
Resonance. After the students can create creativities in physics, they will realize
that it is not difficult to learn physics, physics is fun, and physics is easy to
understand. The role of teachers in the arts media in physics learning is also very
important. Teachers can use the creative and innovative teaching that is can attract
the attention of students so that they are happy to learn physics.
