Hi Elizabeth,

I have looked at your Additional First Sample and cleared you to marks. In many scripts we are in
close agreement. However there are some disagreements and you should look at the comments
below and also go through the 10 scripts when you receive them. Candidate 1642, in particular was
marked too leniently. Material that was muddled with limited IDA was placed in the top band. The
comments I would make are as follows:

Ethics of studies are not relevant if Candidates are meant to evaluate an explanation and
receive no credit.
When marking Question 5, ask yourself if the Candidate really understands evolution by,
for example referring to reproductive success, the Environment of Evolutionary
Adaptation or selective pressures.
In Question 3 the use of the study by Griffith and Guay is rudimentary unless explicitly
linked to the development of relationships. It is a study of liking not development of
relationships.
In Question 6, only one of Anorexia, Bulimia and Obesity should be explained. If a
Candidate deals with more than one, mark all of them but credit only the one which
gains most marks.

A few housekeeping points:

Anything which has not been crossed out must be marked.

Put a red mark on all blank pages and anywhere the whole page is crossed out.
Put a total for each question in the right hand margin.

If you go into QMS you will receive a message from me clearing you to upload marks. There is also a
comparison of my marks and yours. This is found by clicking on the pri nt icon above the Samples
pane.

When you receive the 10 scripts please remember to alter your red marks to match my green ones.

If anything else crops up, please get in touch.

Pete.
