Write these equations as sentences:

4+8+5=n

n - 2 = (3+4)

40 + 3 - n = 32

Write these sentences as equations:

I had twenty apples. I gave seven to my friends, one to my prince, and one to my animal
companion. My animal companion didnt want it, so he gave it back. I ate one myself, and
then some weird old lady in a black cloak came by and gave me one more. I ended up with
some apples, but I suspect one is poisoned.

I had two glass slippers. I had to make a run for it, and one fell off. No problem. I
continued on my way and fell into a hole where I found so many more! I picked up as many
as I could (those things are pricey) and stuck one back on my foot. When I got home, I had
9 glass slippers.

I had a collection of objects in a cavern. My dad got mad at me, so he came and blasted
half of them to bits. Luckily, most of my favourite statue survived. Now I only have 70
whoozits and whatsits.

Inequalities
Indicate if these inequalities are true or false

9-1+4 > n +4 (n=3)

4n + 2 < 10 (n=2)

20 - 14 + 2 20 + 14 - 2

1 + 5n = 6n - 1 (n=2)

If n is equal to {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9}, write the solutions set for these inequalities. Show your
answer on the number line.

n2+4

----1----2----3----4----5----6----7----8----9

9-4+2=n
