After a fantastic season, we managed to catch up with head coach, Jody Paul, to gather
his thoughts on this campaign and reflect on his time here at the University.
What is your highlight of this season?
Exeter away. Superb performance.
What is your low point of this season?
Quarter Final Cup match vs Birmingham. Being 2-0 up at half time, then losing on
strokes was difficult to take.
Good or bad, what incident or event most sticks in your mind since your time
at Bath?
Very tough question. It would probably have to be away to London Met in the 2008/09
season. We were 2-0 up within 10 minutes against a London Met side containing Quan
and Cheeseman. There was a horrendous hailstorm during the game which meant we
had to go off the pitch for 15 minutes. When we came back on we concede 3 goals on
the bounce to take the game to 3-2. With 5 minutes to go we equalised. I then decided
to do something against my nature, I took off a defender and put on another forward
and told him to just go stand on the penalty spot. 30 seconds to go Spuddy hit cross field

Top 5 Bath University players you have worked with?

Weirdest thing you have done as a coach at Bath?

Most people wont know you from when you joined Bath how would you
describe yourself from when you joined vs yourself now?
**** Off Next question. I would have to say I take a more managed response to
situations now. (Tad ironic given the reaction to the question!).
Biggest regret whilst coaching at Bath?
The defeat against Birmingham in the Cup this season. We really didnt deserve that.
Best decision whilst coaching at Bath?
Dropping Goblin only joking! London Met decision as above. Also, in my second year
here, we got to the semi-final of the Cup with the girls. I changed the formation and we
had a good go at Birmingham.
Which current player in the M1s could you not live without?
Interesting question. So many different angles. Ill go with Iams (Charlie Patteson) hes
the perfect University student.
If youre stuck on a desert island for 1 week and could only take 3 members of
the Club with you, who would it be and why?
Cant say Gramps Im not feeding that ego. Jowett obviously. Then for course Anna
Reynolds to keep him company. She brings out the best in him, she sees something that
nobody else sees. Adam Croutear, he provides great general chit chat.
Expectations for next season?
Build on this year. Its been a good year. Keep growing the Club whilst maintaining the
fantastic Club feel. We dont want to lose that. We dont need to go in the complete
high performance direction of a Loughborough, we need to keep this great Club
atmosphere we have with the success on the pitch.
