In IamLegend, by Richard Matheson, feminism is prevalent

throughout the story and how Robert Neville portrays women.

1. The idea of women being in authority has been a constant
problem for hundreds of years, due to the fact that women are
perceived to be individuals that stay home to nurture their
offspring and wait patiently for their husbands to come home,
so they can satisfy them.

2. Not only does Neville exploit women, but the male vampires
take advantage of them as well because women are perceived
to be weak and disposable.

3. For many years before women had the ability to vote and have
rights to their own bodies, men decided everything for their
families and wives.

4. Men have found feminism difficult to deal with in todays

society because they are extremely used to being the ones in
power.

5. Mathesons message he is conveying is that women are

powerful in todays society and have significant roles that can
positively change the world for the better.

6. Carol J. Clover proves that women have substantially changed

the genre in horror because they finally are able to be the
protagonist instead of a miniscule role in fiction.

1. Talking how feminism is show in the book

2. Women in power are seen as threats because are viewed as

housewives

3. Exploit? Women. Neville and the vampires are taking

advantage of women

I don't remember vampires taking advantage of a female

4. Sound's like point #2

5. Sounds a little off from the previous point, maybe it could

under point #1 or you could more point 1 to 4
6. Matheson's message is that women are more free to speak for
themselves and how their freedom is affecting the world in a
positive way

7. Talking about women influence in the horror genre.

I think the order is a bit confusing. I would suggest not using

points 1 right away, instead move it before point 5.
Revision
In IamLegend, by Richard Matheson, feminism is prevalent
throughout the story and how Robert Neville portrays women.
1. The idea of women being in authority has been a constant
problem for hundreds of years, due to the fact that women are
perceived to be individuals that stay home to nurture their
offspring and wait patiently for their husbands to come home,
so they can satisfy them.
2. In most societies men are superior to women and take
advantage of them because they are seen as week and
disposable; just like how Neville exploits the female vampires
to experiment on their bodies, vampires will prey on the
female vampires when they become desperate for blood.
3. Nevilles immediate approach when spotting another human
being for the first time in awhile was that they were going to
fall in love because the assumption is that Ruth is a only
female and he is the only male that is living, so it is inevitable
that they are going to have sex.
4. During the final interaction between Ruth and Neville, it
displays how a

strongly anti-feminist man has finally accepted that todays

society, or the utopia that Ruth is building, is going to be filled
with powerful women standing next to men.
5. Matheson is conveying that women are positively changing the
world through their ability to be free and not be suppressed by
men.

6. Carol J. Clover proves that women have substantially changed

the genre in horror because they finally are able to be the
protagonist instead of a miniscule role in fiction.
