MacKerricher State Park offers a variety of habitats: beach, bluff, headland, dune, forest and wetland.
Tide pools are found along the shore and seals live on the rocks off the park’s coast. More than 90
species of birds visit or live near Lake Cleone, a trout-stocked freshwater lake that was once a tidal
lagoon. During winter and spring, the nearby headland provides a good lookout for whale watching.
The park is popular with hikers, joggers, equestrians and bicyclists.

PARK FEES are due and payable upon entry into
the park. The campsite fee covers one vehicle and
its towed trailer. Additional fees apply for extra
vehicles.
OCCUPANCY: Each campsite may have up to eight
persons (including children).
VEHICLE PARKING: Vehicles may be parked only
in your assigned campsite. They must not extend
into the roadway or beyond parking delineators.
Only two vehicles are allowed per campsite,
including trailers and cycles, unless a third vehicle
fits. All vehicles and drivers must be licensed.
SPEED LIMIT: The maximum speed limit is 15
mph. When pedestrians, bicyclists and children are
present, even 15 mph might be too fast. Use good
judgment.
CHECK-OUT TIME is noon. Please vacate your site
by that time. Check-in is 2 p.m.
RE-REGISTRATION: Campers without reservations
who wish to re-register for another night must
contact the entrance station before 9 a.m. on the
morning they are due out. Site availability is not
assured.
QUIET HOURS are from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. To ensure
an enjoyable experience for everyone, non-camper
visitors must exit by 10 p.m.
NOISE: Radios and other sound-producing devices
must not be audible beyond your immediate
campsite, regardless of the time of day or night.
Generators may only be operated between the
hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
PETS must be kept on a leash no longer than six
feet and under your immediate control at all times.
They must be confined to a vehicle or tent at night.
Please clean up after your pets.
FIRES AND FIREWOOD: Fires are allowed only
in established fire rings or camp stoves, and must
be attended at all times. Do not gather firewood
in the park––the nutrients must be allowed to
recycle back into the ecosystem. You may purchase
firewood from the camp hosts.
ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION: Only campers at
least 21 years of age may consume alcohol. (Legal
drinking age is enforced by peace officers.)
SANITATION: No wastewater or effluent from sinks
may be discharged on the ground. Please use the
provided RV sanitation station.
MINORS: Persons under 18 years of age will be
admitted only if accompanied by adults or with
written permission from their parents. Minors riding
bicycles must wear helmets at all times.
WATER SAFETY: The water is bitterly cold,
swift and unforgiving. Even on calm days, large,
unpredictable “rogue” waves can overcome people
standing at the water’s edge or on rocks, and carry
them out to sea. Few survive. Watch children with
extra care. Stay well back from the water’s edge and
stay alive.
