D r. Kazuhiro Chipa, vice-president of Tokyo University
of Agricultural Technology (TUAT), and Dr. Kyoshi
Kondo (retired TUAT professor and program leader of TUAT
Satellite campus to be established in Subic Freeport Zone in
Zambales) visited Dean Angeles last September 4.
The meeting centered on the establishment of satellite
campus which will offer post graduate training program on the
use and application of high-end analytical equipment. The
graduates of the program can serve as technicians in analyti-

Dean Angeles and Chancellor Rex Victor O. Cruz visited
the UPLBCA La Granja Research and Training Station
(LGRTS) last September 26 to assess the existing facili-
ties being used for training, applied research and produc-
tion. Chancellor Cruz visited the nearby tissue culture
laboratory which was constructed through the support of
the provincial government headed by Gov. Alfredo Mara-
on.
LGRTS Manager Rustico Morales presented the programs
of the station to the chancellor. Dean Angeles said that
the CA intends to make the station a satellite campus
where existing curricular programs can be offered. (DE

Dean Angeles attended a meeting with Dr. Praveen
Agarawal, country director of the World Food Program
(WFP) at the College of Public Affairs (CPAf) last Septem-
ber 8. The meeting centered on how both the UPLB Inter-
disciplinary Studies Center on Food Security and WFP
can work together for the benefit of the rural communities.
Also present during the meeting were former CPAf Dean
Agnes Rola and Dr. Rowena Baconguis. (DE Angeles)
Dean Angeles graced the awarding ceremony for Melecio
J. Maghanoy, university extension specialist of the Agri-
cultural Systems Cluster, who was chosen as Civil Service
Commissions Dangal ng Bayan awardee for Region IV.
CSC Chair Francisco Duque administered the award to
Maghanoy and two other awardees at the CSC regional

Dean Angeles and Dr. Mafeo B. Bejo, CA Extension Unit
head, received the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Outstand-
ing Professorial Chair Manager award in behalf of the col-
lege last September 2 at the Days Hotel, Tagaytay City.
They received the award from Armando L. Surato (BSP
Monetary Board member), together with eight other out-

Dean Angeles attended a meeting of the Re-
search Council of Sugar Regulatory Admin-
istration (SRA), where he is a member, last
September 29 at the SRA office in Quezon
City. The council aims to provide a roadmap
for sugarcane on area of varietal develop-
ment, nutrition, pest control and harvesting.

composed of eight members representing
the SRA, the academe, the sugar mills and
