Beverage containing no alcohol

Alcohol free beers produced yeast-free ensures 0% alcohol by volume. Alcohol

free, or non-alcoholic beverages, are non-alcoholic versions of typically alcoholic
beverages. These may take the form of a non-alcoholic mixed drink (a "virgin
drink"), non-alcoholic beer ("near beer") and "mocktails", and are widely available where
alcoholic beverages are sold. Beverages with labels that state the actual alcohol by
volume help citizens from unknowingly becoming inebriated or drunk drivers.

Low-alcoholic beverage

Sparkling cider, sodas, and juices naturally contain trace amounts or no alcohol.
Some fresh orange juices are above the UK 'alcohol free' limit of 0.05% ABV, as are
some yoghurts and rye bread.
Ethanol distillation is used to separate alcoholic beverages into what are
advertised as non-alcoholic beverages and spirits; distilled wine produces low alcohol
wineandbrandy (from brandywine, derived from Dutchbrandewijn, "burning wine"),
[1] distilled beer may be used to produce low-alcohol beer and whisky.
However alcoholic beverages cannot be further purified to 0.00% alcohol by
volume by distillation. In fact, most beverages labelednon-alcoholic contain 0.5% ABV
as it is more profitable than distilling it to 0.05% ABV often found in products sold by
companies specializing in non-alcoholic beverages.

Ethical issues
Alcohol is legal in most countries of the world where a drinking culture exists. In
countries where alcohol is illegal, similar non-alcoholic beverage are permitted. The
definition of "alcohol-free" may vary from country to country. The term "non-alcoholic"
(e.g.,alcohol-free beer) is often used to describe a beverage that contains 0.0% ABV.
Such beverages are permitted by Islam and are popular in countries that
enforce alcohol prohibition, such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, andIran.
However, most beverages advertised as "non-alcoholic" or "alcohol free" sold by
countries with zero tolerance with state-run liquor monopoly, actually contain alcohol.
Finland has a quite high ABV regulation for non-alcoholic beverages that are classified
as alcoholic beverage by most other countries. Non-alcoholic beverage means a
beverage which contains a maximum of 2.8 percentage by volume ethyl alcohol.

History of Mocktails

Cocktails rose in popularity during the 1980s, but they have become increasingly
popular over the past few years. The use of cocktails has proliferated deep into the
drinking culture. Those who did not drink alcohol found themselves in a situation where
other drinks, by comparison with cocktails, were generic non-alcoholic beverages.
Because of the demand for more visually and aesthetic appealing beverage than normal
soft drinks, the concept known as "Mocktails" was born.Mocktails, an abbreviation for
"mock cocktails", are festive, non-alcoholic party drinks. The word "mock" implying a
facade of the alcoholic cocktail without any of the alcoholic content. In last few years it
has become so popular that it even finds its place in the cocktail menu on many
restaurant and bars. Mocktails can be described as a smooth blend of only non-
alcoholic beverages, which could be fresh fruit juices, syrups, cream, herbs and spices.
Mocktails are designed specifically for those who do not take alcoholic beverages or
need to refrain from them, which means these blends can be enjoyed by people of all
ages. They are particularly favoured over cocktails by drivers, pregnant women, and
others who choose party drinks that are alcohol-free.
Mocktails

Is any mixed drink that does not have alcohol. The name mocktail is derived the
word mock meaning to imitate or mimic referring to mocktails imitating a cocktail as it
seems very similar to a cocktail but does not have alcohol or any other spirits. Mocktail
is simply a mixed drink that does not have any spirits or alcohol. Many mocktails are
cocktails that remove the alcohol. These are termed with a Virgin added to the front of
their name. For example, Pia Colada, a coconut/pineapple drink has white rum in the
cocktail, while a Virgin Pia Colada, has the exact same ingredients but does not
include the rum in the drink. Mocktails are made using juices, cream, sugar, honey,
fruits, herbs and/or soda.
Cocktails and mocktails are both popular drinks that are served in bars and many
restaurants. The major and the only difference between the two is the alcohol/spirit that
is added in the cocktail but excluded from the mocktail. Popular cocktails and mocktails
include Bloody Mary, Black Dog, Shirley Temple, Sex on the Beach, Virgin Mary, etc.
There are many competitions that take place between bartenders to come up with new
mixtures and concoctions of drinks that can be sold on the market.

Mocktails, an abbreviation for mock cocktails", are festive, non-alcoholic party

drinks. Mocktails are often offered for designated drivers, pregnant women, or any party
guests who choose not to drink alcohol. Although many drink recipes can be prepared
without alcohol, some are especially popular. Mocktails come in many varieties: frozen,
hot, fizzy, non-fizzy, and cream-based recipes. A Shirley Temple is one of the classic
mocktails, often served to children. Named for the child actor, it contains lemon-lime
soda, ginger ale, and a dash of grenadine, with a maraschino cherry for garnish. The
Roy Rogers is another of the traditional mocktails, this one named for a straight-laced
singing cowboy; it is made with cola splashed with a bit of grenadine and is also
garnished with a maraschino cherry.
Mocktails Come of Age

What's missing from these cocktails? Only the hangover. They're alcohol-free,
but these drinks are so satisfying and sophisticated, you'll never miss the booze.

Mocktail Science: Easy Substitutes for Complexity

SOME OF THE FLAVORS FOUND IN TOP-SHELF LIQUOR

Have you ever sipped a fine red wine and detected the pungent vegetal notes of
green pepper? Maybe your smart wine-friend said something like "oh, that's the terroir
of the wine you're tasting, isn't it amazing?" Since terroir literally means earth or soil in
French, you probably thought your friend meant that you could taste the green peppers
that were being grown down the street from the vineyard. Not quite. It's true, a great
wine can taste like everything from dark chocolate to lychee nuts, but that fact has
nothing to do with the wine grapes actually growing anywhere near cacao plants or
lychee trees. Here's what actually happening. We tend to name flavor compounds after
the foods where we most commonly find them.
IDEAS FOR CREATING UNCOMMONLY GOOD MOCKTAILS

Of course, you don't have to go to quite so much trouble as a master distiller to

make a pretty decent complex drink yourselfeven without any booze. When I'm
making mocktails, I reach for ingredients and tools most home bartenders will already
have access to in the course of making traditional cocktails.
DOES A GOOD MOCKTAIL NEED TO TASTE LIKE ALCOHOL?

If you've been following along, you may have concluded that you should be
brewing up a batch of bitter, spicy, slightly sweet tea the next time you serve as
designated driver. Gross. But, there's no need to do that. That's because the true allure
of alcohol isn't really derived from its own taste characteristics, but rather how it
interacts with other compounds to create otherwise unattainable flavors.Think of
bitterness, astringency, and spice as creative ways to accent an already tasty mocktail,
to add lend the slight feeling that you might be sipping an actual cocktail.Next, we'll look
at some of the complex flavors that develop in spirits and how to add those complexities
to some innovative mocktail recipes.
MOCKTAIL BENEFITS
Fewer calories Alcoholic drinks, sugary mixed drinks or fruity, frozen concoctions,
can affix copious calories to your daily tally (and, if youre really intoxicated, lead to
binge eating caused by poor judgment), adding up to excess pounds in the long run.The
average mixed drink made with one ounce of rum, vodka or whiskey and juice or cola
clocks in at over 200 calories. Times that by two or three over the course of the evening
and youll have to run an extra houron the treadmill just to burn it off!
LessExpensive

Mocktails, especially those flavoured with just a splash of juice and / or diet tonic
for example can cut the calorie count down to just 50 calories while still providing plenty
of flavour. Mocktails cut out the most expensive ingredient - the alcohol - whether youre
making them from scratch or ordering out. This means you get to sip a satisfying drink
and line your pockets with extra cash while youre at it.Higher in nutrientsMocktails
made with fresh and/or organic juices, such as pomegranate, orange, mango, cranberry
boast plenty of antioxidants and vitamin C and none of thecorn syrup found in colas or
many drink mixers.Everyone can enjoy themPregnant women, people on specific
medications or with chronic illnesses, designated drivers; children and even the most
devout prohibitionists can all enjoy mocktails, making your next party or dinner
gathering exceptionally enticing to drinkers and those who dont drink alcohol alike.
A mocktail is not your ordinary juice or glass of soda and ice. A true mocktail is a
cocktail without liquor, meaning there are multiple ingredients, a bit of barman technique
and a glass of something at the end that looks just a little bit pretty.Being the only non-
drinker can be a tough gig, and mocktails make sure everyone is included in a fun night
out.
A bar is more than just a place to get alcohol, it is a gathering place for friends
and families."Mocktails are not always listed on menus, but most Christchurch bars with
talented staff on shift will be happy to whip up something awesome for those who ask.If
you're looking beyond the standard mocktail, you could go for something even more
unusual.
