In introduction to mindsets

The fixed as opposed to the growth mindset


Mindsets:

a habitual or characteristic mental attitude that determines how


you will interpret and respond to situations

It would be true to say that we all have mindsets that cover the
full array of settings that we encounter in life

Is it possible to change ones mindset in the light of how people


interact with each other? The answer is YES, especially for
children!
The Fixed as opposed to the Growth
mindset

People with a fixed mindset believe that their traits are just givens. They have a certain
amount of brains and talent and nothing can change that. If they have a lot, theyre all set,
but if they dont... So people in this mindset worry about their traits and how adequate
they are. They have something to prove to themselves and others. (The cant do wont do
mentality)

People with a growth mindset on the other hand, see their qualities as things that can be
developed through their dedication and effort. Sure theyre happy if theyre brainy or
talented, but thats just the starting point. They understand that no one has ever
accomplished great thingsnot Mozart, Darwin, or Michael Jordanwithout years of
passionate practice and learning. (The can do will do mentality)
How do we get children to move from a fixed to a growth
mindset (from a cant do to a will do attitude)
Stepping up! How many children stay
sitting on the bottom two steps? A growth mindset philosophy in one!

transforms a cant do wont do, to a can do will do mentality?

Its not the act of failing that keeps us back from doing something but the
fear of failing
