1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to state the minimum requirements of materials,

workmanship and construction procedure to be followed in installing false ceiling.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

This specification covers supply, installation, leveling, finishing, protecting till 'handing
over of false ceiling system in Aluminium.

The ceiling shall satisfactorily conceal overhead supply ducts and lines for HVAC,
electrical, fire detection network and so on.

3.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

3.1 SUSPENSION

The false ceiling panels shall be clipped to panel carriers, which shall be suspended by
G.I. wire hangers, 4 mm diameter, provided at the rate of 1 per M2 (max.) with leveling
clips. Hangers shall be fixed to the soffit of R.C.C. roof by means of J hooks and Nylon
inserts

The clear height from finished floor level or false floor level shall be minimum 3000 mm.

All HVAC, lighting, fire detection network shall have independent supports.

Finished false ceiling shall be perfectly leveled and aligned to desired height

The entire system shall be shop-fabricated.

3.2 PANEL CARRIERS

Panels carriers shall be in Aluminium, as approved by the owner / consultant.

Aluminium panel carriers shall be rolled formed 0.95 mm thick Aluminium alloy
conforming to AA5052 standard.

Panel carriers shall be minimum 32 mm wide and 39 mm deep with prongs in edge
profiles to hold panels and gap profiles, as per manufacturers standard details and
specifications. When two or more carriers are to be joined, they shall be joined together
by means of carrier splices, which will clip on to holes in the sides of the carriers and hold
them firmly in place while maintaining the required module.

The wall rest angles shall be minimum 25 mm x 25 mm x 0.6 mm thick in Aluminium,

fixed perfectly level since the level of the entire grid depends on it.

3.3 PANELS
Panels shall be in Aluminium as approved by the owner / consultant.

Aluminium panels shall be roll formed 0.5 mm Aluminium alloy conforming to AA3105 / IS
31000 standard .

Panels shall be minimum 600 mm x 600 mm x 16mm deep, except at wall ends all Clip-
in and Clip-out type, for easy accessibility to the ceiling plenum at all locations.

The ceiling shall be erected in continuous sequence as per approved manufacturers

recommendations. The false ceiling shall have perfect levels, linearity, etc. as per
requirements.

Gap closures with recessed or flush joint profiles 16 mm by 16 mm shall be provided.

3.4 FINISH

Panels shall be coil coated or powder coated as approved by the owner / consultant.

Coil coating shall be 20 microns Polyester Coil Coating over primer on visible side and 5
microns alkyd primer on hidden side.

Powder coating shall be 50 microns epoxy polyester powder paint on the visible side and
5 microns alkyd primer on the hidden side.
3.5 FIRE RESISTANCE
False ceilings shall provide class 1 spread of flame as per BS 476-P7 and incombustible
as per BS 476-P4 and satisfy class 0 as per BS 476-P6.
3.6 HUMIDITY RESISTANCE
Humidity resistance of the entire system including hardware and accessories shall be up
to 100%
3.7 SHOP DRAWINGS
The Contractor shall submit shop drawings and detailed bill of quantities for approval and
comments.

3.8 MISCELLANEOUS

The entire system shall be able to integrate with standard HVAC, lighting fixtures and
internal partitions. Work shall be carried out in coordination with other trades in the area.
Product manufacturer shall be subject to owners / consultants approval. All areas prone
to construction dust and paint shall be protected by means of brown paper stuck by
adhesive tape.

POP cornice 75 mm x 75 mm at the junction of false ceiling and building structure shall
be provided if called for and contractor shall provide samples of cornice designs for
approval of by the owner / consultant.
