Traipsing Through Covered Passages

Precursor to the shopping mall, these architectural gems, with glass ceilings, marble walls, and
mosaic floors, were a place for well-heeled Parisians of the early 19th century to gather under the
glow of gaslights in the warmth of the heated arcade's luxurious shops, restaurants, and cafs. Now
the charming vestiges of a time long past, these beautifully preserved passages offer a cornucopia of
alluring boutiques, bookshops, art galleries, candy shops, and much more. Although there are
dozens to see, some of the best include Galerie Vivienne, Passage du Grand Cerf, Passages Joffroy
& Verdeau, Passage Molire, and the Cour du Bel Air
Day 2 : 17th october also spent in paris seeing places and strolling around different places.
Would also love to play a mystry or escape game.

DAY 4 :
19th october 2016
The adventures begin.
Reykjevick to vik
Reykjavik - Mosfellskirkja Church - Pingvallavatn Lake - Pingvellier National Park - Silfra
Rift Valley - Strokkur Geyser - Gullfoss - Reynsfjara Beach - Vik

option 2 :
Begin your journey on the classic Golden Circle route, starting with the fascinating ingvellir
National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can walk ona path in the rift valley
between the North American and Eurasiantectonic plates.Next is the Haukadalur geothermal area,
home of Geysirthe original geyserand the more active Strokkur, which spouts water every
few minutes. End the circle with visits to themajestic Gullfoss waterfall and the implosion crater of
Keri.
1) Mosfellskirkja Church : free of cost
Mosfellskirkja in Grmsnes is located about 7 kilometres southwest of Reykholt Village and 35
kilometres northeast of Selfoss Town on the Golden Circle route in South Iceland. This is a small,
black and beautiful county church, was built in 1948 but rebuilt and consecrated again in 1979.

Pingvallavatn Lake : ingvallavatn is a rift valley lake in southwestern Iceland. With a surface of
84 km it is the largest natural lake in Iceland. Its greatest depth is at 114 m. At the northern shore of
the lake, at ingvellir (after which the lake is named), the Alingi, the national parliament, was
founded in the year 930.
The lake lies partially within ingvellir National Park. The volcanic origin of the islands in the lake
is clearly visible. The cracks and faults around it, of which the famous Almannagj canyon is the
largest, is where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. Silfra fissure is a popular
scuba and snorkeling site. The only outflow from lake ingvallavatn is the Sog River.
One of the noted features of the lake is the presence of four morphs of the Arctic charr.[
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSSmOoXDJRU

this might not be possible in winter though.

ingvellir national park :

No single place epitomizes the history of Iceland and the Icelandic nation better than ingvellir by
the river xar.
At ingvellir - literally "Parliament Plains" - the Aling general assembly was established around
930 and continued to convene there until 1798. Major events in the history of Iceland have taken
place at ingvellir and therefore the place is held in high esteem by all Icelanders. Today ingvellir
is a protected national shrine. According to the law, passed in 1928, the protected area shall always
be the property of the Icelandic nation, under the preservation of the Aling.

The ingvellir area is part of a fissure zone running through Iceland, being situated on the tectonic
plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

Not a problem in winter. As read by the reviews on trip advisor. Seems to be free so no
entry here as well.

Strokkur Geyser : entry fee of about 300 to 500 inr per head

Strokkur (Icelandic for "churn") is a fountain geyser in the geothermal area beside the Hvt River
in Iceland in the southwest part of the country, east of Reykjavk. It is one of Iceland's most famous
geysers,[1] erupting about every 8-10 minutes 15 20 m high, sometimes up to 40 m high.

Gullfoss : waterfalls : http://gullfoss.is/ :

Gullfoss is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Iceland. The wide Hvt rushes southward.
About a kilometre above the falls it turns sharply to the right and flows down into a wide curved
three-step "staircase" and then abruptly plunges in two stages (11 m and 21 m) into a crevice 32 m
(105 ft) deep. As one first approaches the falls, the crevice is obscured from view, so that it appears
that a mighty river simply vanishes into the earth. During the first half of the 20th century and
some years into the late 20th century, there was much speculation about using Gullfoss to generate
electricity. During this period, the waterfall was rented indirectly by its owners, Tmas Tmasson
and Halldr Halldrsson, to foreign investors. However, the investors' attempts were unsuccessful,
partly due to lack of money. The waterfall was later sold to the state of Iceland, and now the
waterfall is protected.

Reynsfjara Beach : Reynisfjara beach is a

beautiful black sand beach under Reynisfjall mountain with amazing basalt columns. In addition to
the gorgeous beach and mountain, there was a large colony of puffins nesting high in the cliffs.
Walking down the beach, we could see these delightful birds flying about from the nests to the sea
to catch some fish. About half way down the beach is a large vaulted cavern called Hlsanefeshellir.
The cave is not deep, but its really beautiful surrounded by basalt. And there are several other caves
along the beach here too. Despite the natural beauty, Reynisfjara can be dangerous. The water is
extremely cold, the waves are unpredictable, and the rip currents are strong, so don't go near the
water. When the tide comes in, it is possible to become trapped in the caves.falling rocks are a
hazard, particularly in the caves, so don't stop an have a picnic under there. But despite these
hazards, it is definitely a spot worth visiting. Just visit when the tide is out and stay a safe distance
from both the mountain and the sea.

E
m
pl
osion crater of Keri. : is a volcanic crater lake located in the Grmsnes area in south Iceland, on the
popular tourist route known as the Golden Circle. It is one of several crater lakes in the area, known
as Iceland's Western Volcanic Zone, which includes the Reykjanes peninsula and the Langjkull
Glacier, created as the land moved over a localized hotspot, but it is the one that has the most
visually recognizable caldera still intact.

Hvolsvollur - Skogafoss - Seljalandfoss Thorsmork Hvolsvollur

Visit the fairytale-like Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk right behind the misty cascade,
then head to the equally gorgeous Skgafoss waterfall just a short drive down the road. South of the
village of Vk, make a stop a the volcanic black sand beach for dramatic views of theDyrhlaey

mi

Skogafoss : Waterfall : No Entry

Skgafoss (pronounced [skou.afs]) is a waterfall situated on the Skg River in the south of
Iceland at the cliffs of the former coastline. The Skgafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the
country with a width of 25 metres (82 feet) and a drop of 60 m (200 ft). Due to the amount of spray
the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days.
The waterfall has been used as one of the backdrop locations in Bollywood movie Dilwale song
called Gerua featuring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol.

Seljalandfoss :

Seljalandsfoss is one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland.[1] Seljalandsfoss is situated between
Selfoss and Skgafoss, where Route 1 (the Ring Road) meets the track going to rsmrk.
This waterfall of the river Seljalands drops 60 metres (200 ft) over the cliffs of the former
coastline. It is possible to walk behind the waterfall.
Very scenic pair of falls. In the summer you can way walk behind them but this is not recommended
in winter when there are icicles that can fall. Will visit in the summer sometime!
Thrsmrk : natural beauty : entry free

Thrsmrk (Icelandic: rsmrk, [listen] (helpinfo)) is a mountain ridge in Iceland that was
named after the Norse god Thor (rr). It is situated in the south of Iceland between the glaciers
Tindfjallajkull and Eyjafjallajkull. The name "Thrsmrk" properly refers only to the mountain
ridge between the rivers Kross, rng and Markarfljt,[1] but is sometimes used informally to
describe a wider area that includes the region between Thrsmrk and Eyjafjallajkull. Thrsmrk
is one of the most popular hiking areas in Iceland.[2]

Option is to go from here to the plane crashing site andcamp therjust near the plane .

Its one of Icelands most iconic & haunting photography locations. On Saturday Nov 24, 1973 a
United States Navy Douglas Super DC-3 airplane was forced to land on Slheimasandurs black
sand beach in the south of Iceland after experiencing some severe icing. Luckily all crew members
survived the crash, but the airplanes fuselage was abandoned. Now its become a photography
dream location.

How to find it : http://expertvagabond.com/airplane-crash-wreckage-iceland/

or else we can stay back at the same placeas of the previous day.
DAY 6: 21st october 2016

Hvolsvollur - Air Crash Site (Coordinates: 63.45228 N, 19.364771 W) - Solheimajokull -

Katla - Laufskkalvar - Svartifoss - Skaftafellsjokull - Svinafellsjokull -Skaftafell Glacier -
Jokulsarlon -Hofn

Spend some time exploring Skaftafell, part of the immense Vatnajkull National Park and a place of
great natural beauty. Here youll find many interesting hiking trails, including a short path leading
to the Svartifoss waterfall and its unique basalt columns that resemble organ pipes. Then head to the
famous Jkulsrln glacier lagoon and enjoy the view of floating icebergs under the glow o f the
setting sun. Spend the night in the Hfn area.

Solheimajokull : Glacier Walk : Entry will be around 7000 if done by a guided tour.

The Slheimajkull glacier tongue extends from the great Mrdalsjkull glacier, down to the sandy
plains of the Icelandic south coast. The spectacular surroundings are marked by rugged and majestic
rock formations thoroughly shaped by the glacier.

On this fun, safe and easy to moderate glacier walk you get to explore the wonderland of ice
sculptures, water cauldrons, ridges and deep crevasses on the breathtaking Slheimajkull glacier.
While enjoying all the features of the glacier and its spectacular surroundings, you will learn more
about the behavior of glaciers and their impact on nature. No technical requirements are needed for
the tour as an experienced glacier guide will teach you how to use basic glacier equipment, such as
crampons and an ice axe which are provided for all our glacier walk tours. The unique experience of
a glacier walk on one of the many retreating glaciers of the world is sure to leave lasting memories

Katla : active volcanic site

Katla (Icelandic pronunciation: [kahtla] ( listen)) is a large volcano in southern Iceland. It is very
active; twenty eruptions have been documented between 930 and 1918, at intervals of 1395 years.
It has not erupted violently for 98 years, although there may have been small eruptions that did not
break the ice cover, including ones in 1955,[1] 1999,[2] and 2011.[3]
Prior eruptions have had a Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) of between 4 and 6 on a scale of 0 to 8.
In comparison, the Eyjafjallajkull 2010 eruption had a VEI-4. The bigger VEI-6 eruptions are
comparable to Mount Pinatubo's 1991 eruption.

Tailor made tours, 5 hours and longer are
available to destinations like Landmannalaugar,
Hrafntinnusker and Langisjr.
http://www.obyggdarferdir.is
Svartifoss : free of cost : waterfall

Svartifoss (Black Fall) is a waterfall in Skaftafell in Vatnajkull National Park in Iceland, and is
one of the most popular sights in the park. It is surrounded by dark lava columns, which gave rise to
its name.

Skaftafellsjokull : Glacier : BNOT TO MISS THE CRYSTAL CAVE

For important safety reasons it is not recommended to go into the ice caves without a certified
glacier guide.
Ice Caves are only found during the wintertime when the glacial rivers retract and the water
freezes. New caves are formed in different locations each year. This tour is highly dependent on
conditions (including temperature, safety of the cave and access to the cave). Ice-caves must be
treated with the utmost respect in regards to the ceiling being supportive along with other factors.
Being inside an Ice Cave provides visitors with unparalleled photographic opportunities while
capturing the blue light passing through the glacier ice.
Its a dream to do this ice cave thing but i am not sure if i can be done when we are
going there. Its a sight of life.

Skaftafell Glacier:

Located at the foot of Vatnajkull glacier, the biggest glacier outside of the polar regions, Skaftafell
is the gateway to the largest national park in Europe, Vatnajkull National Park. Skaftafell is 4
hours east of Reykjavik (330km / 205miles). Visit our Getting Here page for information on getting
to Skaftafell.
If you are looking for breathtaking views, great hiking and unforgettable glacier trips, this is
certainly Iceland's top location. Numerous outlet glaciers descend from the main glacier plateau of
Vatnajkull, all unique in shape, form and accessibility. We offer amazing glacier hikes on the most
beautiful one of the bunch, the Falljkull or rightly named "Falling Glacier", just a short drive from
Skaftafell.

I would love to do the ice wall climb if it is possible that time.

http://www.glacierguides.is/GlacierTripsFromSkaftafell/GlacierXtreme
Jkulsrln : glacier

Jkulsrln (Icelandic pronunciation: [jklsaurlounn ] ( listen); literally "glacial river lagoon") is a

large glacial lake in southeast Iceland, on the edge of Vatnajkull National Park. Situated at the
head of the Breiamerkurjkull glacier, it developed into a lake after the glacier started receding
from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The lake has grown since then at varying rates because of
melting of the glaciers. It is now 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) away from the ocean's edge and covers an
area of about 18 km2 (6.9 sq.mi)
Hofn :
Hfn or Hfn Hornafiri (Icelandic pronunciation: [hpn i hrtna fr]) is an Icelandic fishing
town in the south-eastern part of the country. It lies near a fjord named Hornafjrur.
This harbour town, the second largest in the south-eastern part of Iceland, gives scenic views of
Vatnajkull (the largest ice cap in Europe by volume). The community was formerly known as
Hornafjararbr, between 1994 and 1998
Hfn is located on a peninsula in the south-east of Iceland. The name Hfn means harbour and it is
a fishing port surrounded on three sides by the sea, with beaches on the long shoreline on the south-
east. Sand bars and glacial rivers traverse this area with many shifting lagoons and sand reefs being
formed. Hfn is surrounded by several small islands, the largest of which is Mikley, followed by
Krkaltur and Hellir to the east of the town.

voluminous ice cap in
Iceland, and one of the
largest in area in Europe.
It is the second largest

Brarbunga ([paurarpuka] ( listen)),[1] Bardarbunga (Anglophone spelling), is

a stratovolcano located under Vatnajkull, Iceland's most extensive glacier. The
second highest mountain in Iceland, 2,009 metres (6,591 ft) above sea level,
Brarbunga is also part of a volcanic system that is approximately 200 kilometres
(120 mi) long and 25 kilometres (16 mi) wide.

On February 28, 2015 it was officially reported that the eruption is over.[13]
Nevertheless, the gas pollution still exists, and the area north of Brarbunga,
including volcanoes Askja and Herubrei, still remained closed for visitors.

On March 16, 2015 the area north of Brarbunga was opened for visitors, excluding the new lava
field and the area within 20 meters around it.
DAY 8 : 23rd OCTOBER :
Hofn - East Fjords - Djupivogur - Egilsstadir

East Fjords:

The East Fjords cover a 120km stretch of eastern Icelands twisted coastline between
Borgarfjrur Eystri in the north and southern Berufjrur, with many of the fjords
none of which is particularly large sporting small villages, mostly given over to
fishing. The fjord scenery can be vivid, particularly in summer, with the villages sitting
between flat blue sea and steep, steel-grey mountains, their peaks dusted in snow and
lower slopes covered in greenery and flowers. Aside from scenery and puffins at
Borgarfjrur Eystri, highlights include Seyisfjrur, for its Norwegian-style wooden
houses and international ferry, and, right at the fjords southern end, the tiny island of
Papey, which can be visited on a day-trip from Djpivogur.

DAY 9 : 24th OCTOBER :

Dettifoss waterfall - sbyrgi - Jkulsrgljfur - Husavik

Dettifoss is a waterfall in
Vatnajkull National Park in
Northeast Iceland, and is reputed
to be the most powerful
waterfall in Europe.Dettifoss is
situated on the Jkuls Fjllum
river, which flows from the
Vatnajkull glacier and collects
water from a large area in
Northeast Iceland. The falls are
100 metres (330 ft) wide and
have a drop of 45 metres (150 ft)
down to the Jkulsrgljfur
canyon.

sbyrgi : sbyrgi canyon lies in the north of Iceland, about 50 minute drive to the east from
Hsavk on the Diamond Circle road. The horseshoe-shaped depression is part of the Vatnajkull
National Park and measures approximately 3.5 km in length and 1.1 km across
Jkulsrgljfur : Jkulsrgljfur National Park is a former national park situated in the north of
Iceland around the river Jkuls Fjllum. It lies to the north of the Dettifoss waterfall. On 7 June
2008, it became a part of the larger Vatnajkull National Park.[1]
The area is of interest because of its chaotic canyon and volcanic mountains. Eight thousand years
ago, a volcano erupted directly underneath the river and glacial ice. This caused explosions and
chaotic flooding.
The center of the park was Hljaklettar (rock of echoes). Rauhlar (red mountain) is of interest
