I live in a city on the Neva, my brother lives in a city on the Moscow River, and our

parents live in a city on the Volga. So it is, I live in Petersburg, my brother is in Moscow, and my
parents are in Uglich.
We often argue who lives in a better place. When (my brother and I) were little and lived
in Uglich, we thought that it was the best city in the universe. Uglich it is small, but it is a clean
a beautiful city. In Uglich there is clean water. The Volga is a beautiful river. Our parents think so
right now. But now I think that the best place to live is in Petersburg, and my brother says that it
is excellent to live in Moscow.
Here is my apartment. Petersburg is not too big (as Moscow is) and it is not too small. In
Petersburg the architecture is more beautiful than in Moscow. We have water, of course, less
clean, than in Uglich, but not as dirty like in Moscow. Cafs in restaurants in Petersburg and in
Uglich are less expensive than in Moscow. The apartments in Petersburg are less expensive than
in Moscow (but, unfortunately are not as cheap as those in Uglich).
There is, of course, minuses. For example, in Petersburg there is not much heat, as in
Moscow or in Uglich. Yes, we have a terrible climate. Yet in Petersburg the salary is not this
much greater as in Moscow. And In Uglich I had a less interesting job, than in Petersburg,
because I have a rare profession.
But for me everything is not so bad. For me it is less bad, what the atmosphere in the city
not weather, of course, but the culture, psychology, and energetic atmosphere. I do not know
why, but when I am in Moscow, I think that this world it is a little bit chaotic. A when I am in
Petersburg, I know that there is order in the world. When I talk about this, my brother answers
that it is just my illusion and that I am abnormal. And we begin to argue about philosophy. We
always argue about everything.
