2.2 proficiency in the Language of Instruction
2.4 ability to use technologies readily, strategically and appropriately
2.6 ability to strive for/pursue new knowledge
Stage 2- Assessment
Assessment FOR Learning (formative) Assess the students during the learning to help
determine next steps.
Formative assessment during the work period to start drawing the students rooms will
be walking around the rooms talking to each student and checking on their progress.
Each student should be started their drawing to get ready to paint and follow the
guidelines. This drawing should be a rough sketch just to get the basic ideas of their
rooms down, no small details should be present and the students should start thinking
about the three objects they want to include in their paintings and the bright colour they
want to use.
Main Procedures/Strategies:
1. Students get settled
2. Go over that today is a work period to start drawing
3. Remind students what is expected of the paintings. Three of more objects from their
rooms presented in painting and at least one bright colour used.
4. Introduce rule of thirds for drawing.
5. Work time
6. Students hand in pictures to me
Adaptations/Differentiation:
For students who forgot their picture they will be either working on social studies
questions or cleaning the lab.
P will work on the collage with the educational assistant
Closing of lesson:
Students will hand in drawings to me and talk about next day we will continue and
hopefully start painting.
Personal Reflection:
This lesson went very well, my instruction has really improved since the beginning. The
best aspect of the lesson was teaching the students the rule of thirds in a non structured
way and as I walked around when they were drawing most of the students were using this
technique!
