ProbabilityFunctions
Aprobabilityfunctionisafunctionwhichassignsprobabilitiestothevaluesofarandomvariable.

Alltheprobabilitiesmustbebetween0and1inclusive
Thesumoftheprobabilitiesoftheoutcomesmustbe1.

Ifthesetwoconditionsaren'tmet,thenthefunctionisn'taprobabilityfunction.Thereisnorequirementthatthe
valuesoftherandomvariableonlybebetween0and1,onlythattheprobabilitiesbebetween0and1.

ProbabilityDistributions
Alistingofallthevaluestherandomvariablecanassumewiththeircorrespondingprobabilitiesmakea
probabilitydistribution.

Anoteaboutrandomvariables.Arandomvariabledoesnotmeanthatthevaluescanbeanything(arandom
number).Randomvariableshaveawelldefinedsetofoutcomesandwelldefinedprobabilitiesforthe
occurrenceofeachoutcome.Therandomreferstothefactthattheoutcomeshappenbychancethatis,you
don'tknowwhichoutcomewilloccurnext.
