Flat Actuator

Description
Eaton's Flat Actuator is designed to operate valves
that require 90 degrees of movement to the open and
closed positions. The unit consists of a 28 Vdc (nominal)
permanent magnet motor and a worm/spur gear
arrangement to produce the rotational movement.
Travel limits are controlled by position control
microswitches. Positional indication is provided by
independent microswitches. A see/feel indicator at the
end of the output shaft can be seen or felt to establish
the valve position.
Design Features
The Flat Actuator can be used to drive in-line valves,
pedestal mounted valves or remotely driven valves. It
can be attached to the required valve/drive unit by two
captive socket head M5 bolts.
An epicyclic gearbox can be installed within the unit to
provide a reduced operating time and increased torque
capability. A unit with this feature is used on the Nimrod
MRA4 maritime patrol aircraft.
