Dear Principal,

My name is Miss Graham, and I want to teach in your school because I believe that I can create a safe, inviting,
educational environment that promotes growth in independent learning and content understanding. I have
recently graduated from Arizona State University with a BAE in Secondary Education (English). Since high school, I
have had a passion to educate secondary school students and to prepare them as the future of the world because
education is one of the strongest factors that influence a young persons life. This is why I want to be a teacher in
your schoolto create meaningful instructional opportunities that allow students, as well as myself, to grow in
independent thinking. Through related coursework in my program, I have learned the importance of using
technology in the classroom, maintaining lessons and strategies that allow for flexibility in format, creating an
inclusive classroom that takes advantage of universally-designed instructional strategies and methods, and always
being mindful of the psychological aspect of adolescence.

Previously working at ASU Project Humanities, I have two years of experience working as a team and with staff
members who are equally passionate about the humanities. As the communications coordinator, my job was to
engage individuals and groups of people who belong to diverse ethnicities, races, religions, and other factors.
Working with the Project taught me fundamental values of human nature that are equally important to create a
sense of community, build trust, and learn from one another. Such values are: compassion, empathy, forgiveness,
integrity, kindness, respect, and self-reflection.

Currently working as a CRLA certified tutor through ASUs University Academic success programs, I have learned
how to gauge my engagements with international and native undergraduate and graduate students in order to
assist them with their essays in a wide range of subjects and lengths. This flexibility and openness to work with
diverse students across disciplines will enable me to do so at large within my own classroom space.

As an educator, I firmly believe that the classroom allows a team of teachers, students, parents, and other
professionals to learn together and help one another accelerate in growth and understanding. My experiences
interacting with people through my past and current jobs will enable me to inspire and motivate students in the
classroom as I build a respectful and comfortable environment in which students can succeed, engage, and learn
with peers and instructors alike. I understand the importance of expressing oneself through not only vocal, but
written communication, and wish to include communication skills in my future teaching, as they are a crucial for all
aspects of life, especially while working with others.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to meeting you soon to further show how I believe I am the best
candidate for this position.

With best regards,

Abigail R. Graham
