Maya

Maya excelled at agriculture, pottery, hieroglyph, writing, and mathematics. They left

behind symbolic artwork. Their great stone cities were abandoned by 900 A.D. Since 19th
Century scholars have debated what caused the terrible incident. Leaves many people wondering
what happened. Now lets take a look at some of Mayas history. Maya Yucatan and Guatemala
exhibited a cultural continuity spanning more than 2,000 years and many aspects to their culture
continues to the present. Maya extended throughout the northern central american region,
including the present-day nations of Guatemala, Belize, and western Honduras. Maya was
divided into kingdoms, each had a city and a ruler. They acted as war leader, lawmaker, and chief
of priest. When 900 A.D Mayan civilization declined, because their farming method led to failing
crops. They are somewhat how we inrule things if you got in trouble you had to sit in front of a
judge, jail, or prison. They were ruled by a king. Maya believed that their king had to always go
by gods rules. To be chosen for king it was passed down by generation. If your father was a king
of a kingdom when your father had passed the next king would be the son to rule the kingdom, or
if you did not have a son then it would be nephew. The traditional maya religion of Guatemala,
Belize, Western Honduras, and the tosco, chiapas, and Yucatan region of mexico is a southern
eastern variant of Mesoamerican religion. Results from the centuries with Roman Catholicism.
Mayans religion involved several aspects of nature and rituals. Gods represented a form of
nature. Mayan language is spoken in the Yucatan peninsula and northern Belize. To most native
speakers the proper name is maya and is only known for that. Yucatec is a tag linguists used to
represent other mayan languages. In the past maya has built many things. Maya has built
pyramids, temples, palaces, walls, residences, and many more things. In maya they decorate
their buildings with intricate stone carvings, stucco statues, and paint. Maya today is important
for study. Mayas calendar dates back to at least the 5th century. Mayan communities still use it
today. The calendar moves in cycles with the last cycle ending in December 2012. They also
interpreted this as the world was gonna end December 2012. The hardest and most menial
ancient mayan jobs were reserved for the lowest class. They did not get to have many job
opportunities. They were followed in station by educated noblemen who worked as architects,
artists, and scribes. Mayan society is found with work of flint, obsidian, pottery, bone, jade,
stucco and stone that has been underneath ground for years. Maya began trading in the preclassic
period, about 300 B.C, and continued to do so with making more enthusiasm throughout the
classic period. They traded both luxury items and items you would use every day. Feathers, gold,
jade, amber, honey, animal pets, and vegetable dyes. They would even transport heavy things
such as mortars, pestles, and bags of salt. They would use cacao, jade and feathers sprinkled with
gold a lot. Maya was divided up into nobles, priests, merchants, and artisans, and peasants.
